Chapter 1066 - 550: Extra Story: Good Girl, You Know How to Please Me Now? (Part 2)
"Three or four years ago, everyone thought you would marry Howard Geoffrey...""Heh... Relationships often depend on fate. Howard and I are fated, but not destined... At that time, my father arranged this marriage primarily for the benefits. With Howard’s abilities, the Robinson family would certainly continue to flourish."
"It sounds like you admire Howard a lot..."
"Yes, the reason I was willing to marry him naturally was because I liked him... Unfortunately, his heart belonged to someone else long ago."
"It seems your love life isn’t completely a blank slate either."
"I’m surprised General Laurence would be curious about my love life..."
Claud Laurence smiled, "I told you, I’m only interested in people or things I like."
His words carried a hint of confession.
She was not used to such ambiguity, turning her head to look at the view outside the window.
"Are you tired?" he asked.
She nodded.
He said, "Then get some sleep, I’ll wake you when we arrive."
"Okay."
She was truly exhausted...
As soon as she closed her eyes, drowsiness took over.
These days, she hadn’t had a good night’s sleep...
So tired.
In the following days, Alice Robinson lived on tenterhooks, yet she and Claud Laurence coexisted without incident.
However, the longer she spent with Claud Laurence, the more afraid she became of him.
Claud Laurence always seemed to easily see through her thoughts, making her feel exposed, just like in front of Chester Robinson.
In recent days, Claud Laurence hadn’t entered her hotel room, nor had he made any inappropriate advances toward her.
During the day, he took her to various places in Tokyo for sightseeing, and after dinner in the evening, they would go for a walk together. He consistently maintained his gentlemanly demeanor and manners.
On the day before they left Tokyo, which was also the last day as Uncle Grant had informed her over the phone, she couldn’t help but suspect Claud Laurence was playing a game of hard-to-get.
However, she didn’t have time to waste on him.
That night, Alice drank a few more glasses of red wine and couldn’t help feeling a bit dizzy...
Claud Laurence escorted her back to her room, and she stood in front of the door, softly asking, "Aren’t you coming in to sit for a while?"
Claud Laurence smiled, "Aren’t you afraid that I’ll change my mind then?"
Her bleary eyes looked into his deep ones, "I’m not afraid... because I trust you." Only she knew how false these words were, but she had to say them because she was the one asking him for help.
"This is the first time a girl has invited me into her room. Usually, it’s me inviting the girl in."
Was he teasing her?
Alice blushed angrily, turned around to open the door, and was about to slam it shut when, to her surprise, he had already slipped inside.
In a huff, Alice blocked him at the entrance, blurting out, "What are you doing??"
He raised his eyebrows in surprise, "You just invited me in!"
Her chest heaved violently, realizing he was quite devious, always setting traps for her to fall into.
Sure enough, he smiled and reached out to stroke her face, "Do you know, you’re very beautiful when you’re angry?"
A deeper flush spread across Alice’s face.
"What do you imagine me to be? Taking advantage when someone is in a vulnerable state isn’t my approach to courting a girl." His hands cupped her face, his voice gentle, friendly, without a trace of danger, "If I wanted to touch you, why would I play such games of hard-to-get?"
Alice stared at him, slightly surprised.
He smiled, "But I did take advantage of a vulnerable moment; otherwise, you wouldn’t have come to Tokyo with me."
She looked into his eyes, feeling a strange emotion.
"I, Claud Laurence, could have any kind of woman, but I’ve taken an interest in you... My mom once told me, if one day I met a woman I adored, to bring her to Tokyo for a look, because Mom is buried here, her soul is here. She can see what kind of girl her son likes."
Alice’s mouth slightly parted, surprised at everything he was saying at this moment.
She had always thought he was taking advantage of her vulnerable state, significantly downgrading her opinion of him, yet at this moment, her heart was moved.
"I want you to be my woman. I will give you the most envied happiness in the world... I know there might have been someone in the past who hurt you deeply, causing your heart to ache every time you recall it. I want to make you forget that feeling forever when you’re with me. I will fill your wounded heart with goodness in the future, and I want you to be with me willingly one day... For you, I have the patience."
After saying this, he smiled, his smile so warm and sunny, as if illuminating the darkest corners of her heart.
"I..." she looked at him, not knowing what to say.
He left a kiss on her forehead, gently patting her head, "You’ve been tired during this time, haven’t you? Get a good early night’s sleep; tomorrow when you wake up, it will surely be a beautiful sunny day."
Before boarding the plane the next day, Uncle Grant called to say the money she sent had solved the vineyard’s financial issues, and the vineyard was now operating normally.
She was very surprised as to when she had sent the money to the vineyard, her astonished gaze eventually fell on Claud Laurence beside her.
He was on the phone, seemingly discussing business matters.
He seemed very busy; coming to Tokyo was likely taking a break from his busy schedule.
She waited for him silently.
He noticed her gaze, wrapped up the call, and looked at her gently, "What’s wrong?" He naturally wrapped his arm around her waist.
"Thank you."
It was a heartfelt gratitude.
He smiled, "If you’d give me a kiss, I’d be even more willing to work my head off for you."
She blushed, lowering her head.
She wasn’t used to being so close to someone, even though she would have to consider him her boyfriend in the future.
"I told you I have patience..."
He placed a kiss on her cheek, gestured for the driver to take her handbag, then embraced her as they got into the car.
