Chapter 667 - 638: Sense of Crisis
Chapter 667 - 638: Sense of Crisis
(October Monthly Ticket Extra 11.5/16)Sienna Thornton understood, but then started worrying again: "Will the Grant Family cause trouble for you and my dad in the future?"
"Once Zachary Grant goes to the Western Army, it’s almost like being in prison. Unless someone up top wants to see him, he can’t leave the camp. Plus, Tobias Blackwood and Kevin Chaucer have deep connections there, so Zachary’s every move will be under our control."
Simon Forrester finished washing the baby’s face, then picked him up to wash his hands. The baby loved playing with water; as soon as Simon brought him to the basin, he began laughing and moving excitedly.
Sienna Thornton stood there, staring into space, sighing, still worried that Simon Forrester might have trouble with Zachary Grant. She also wondered if things would have been simpler if she hadn’t told Simon Forrester about it last night, so he wouldn’t have gone to the Grant Family to beat up Zachary Grant. But then she thought if the issue wasn’t confronted directly, and Zachary came to harass her in the future... she couldn’t even imagine living like that.
On the flip side, she thought it might be the best outcome now. You can’t just kill someone because Zachary said those things, that’s impossible. The best outcome is nothing more than this.
The two of them dressed the baby in pajamas. Simon Forrester was taking a bath; Sienna Thornton was preparing to nurse the baby to sleep and rest herself.
The phone on the bedside table suddenly buzzed, she glanced at it and saw it was Tobias Blackwood’s call. Thinking he must have something urgent for Simon Forrester, she quickly took the phone to knock on the bathroom door.
"It’s Young Master Blackwood’s call, do you want to answer?"
Simon Forrester replied indistinctly, "I’m washing my hair, you answer it for me."
Sienna Thornton answered the call, putting it on speaker: "Young Master Blackwood, my husband is showering, do you need anything? I’ll pass on the message when he’s done."
From the other end, there were sounds of clinking glasses and men laughing and talking.
Tobias Blackwood’s deep voice reached this side of the receiver: "Kevin is back, we’re at the wine estate, have him come over after he’s done."
"Okay, I’ll let him know. If that’s it, I’ll hang up now."
"Goodbye."
Sienna Thornton hung up the call, lying back in bed, pondering what Tobias Blackwood meant by "wine estate."
Ten minutes later, Simon Forrester came out of the bathroom, walked to the bed while drying his hair.
Sienna Thornton, nursing the baby, gently said, "Young Master Blackwood said Kevin Chaucer is back, they’re at the wine estate, and you should go over."
Simon Forrester glanced at the digital clock on the table: "I’ll just go and be right back."
He finished drying his hair, went into the walk-in closet, and emerged in jeans, a white V-neck short-sleeved T-shirt, and a black windbreaker.
Having just showered, his hair was slightly damp and black, giving him a clean appearance, like a young man. Throw him in with those oily men like Jack Hawthorne and Logan Lockwood, and he’s like Tristan Thornton; women would want to rush over.
Sienna Thornton lay in bed, watching him: "Going to a club? Is there drinking involved?"
Simon Forrester caught her tone, walked to the bed, bent down to look at the nursing baby, and laughed: "Feeling threatened?"
Sienna Thornton kicked him: "If you’re calling a girl for drinks, prepare to pack up and leave! This house is mine; you can go back to the old house with your grandpa and dad!"
Simon Forrester laughed, revealing his white teeth.
The nursing baby suddenly raised his little hand, grabbing his dad’s T-shirt.
Simon Forrester caressed his wife’s cheek: "The wine estate is Tobias Blackwood’s private villa renovation, just us guys occasionally drink there; forget girls, not even a female mosquito can get in."
Sienna Thornton was skeptical: "Really? Gage Grant and Logan Lockwood can’t survive without women; just you bunch of guys drinking, they can handle the loneliness?"
Simon Forrester thought to himself that he hadn’t seen any women around Gage Grant for two years, guessing he might be committed after meeting Maeve.
Not wanting Sienna to worry about those two, he didn’t mention it and instead said, "I’m drinking tonight, and Gavin Gale will drive me back later. Don’t worry, if you’re tired, sleep early." He kissed her forehead before picking up his phone and heading downstairs.
.
Simon Forrester drove directly to Tobias Blackwood’s wine estate.
Upon entering, he found the men had already started drinking.
Seeing him, Kevin Chaucer immediately put down his glass, strode over, and threw an arm around his shoulder, grinning widely: "Brother, you’re here!"
Everyone laughed.
Tobias Blackwood: "Kevin said because you fought with Uncle Grant, his family’s old man got transferred back to the city, so he’s back to enjoy life."
Kevin Chaucer sidled up to Simon Forrester, charmingly laughing: "Tobias, you spent five years in the Western Army; you know what kind of place that is, right? Do you think I wouldn’t be happy?"
Jack Hawthorne, sipping red wine, suddenly spat: "When Leo was caught in the Western Army, Gage Grant and Ian went to find him; staying at the hotel, opening the window, you get a mouthful of sand! Damn! It’s a magical place!"
Everyone laughed, clinking glasses, celebrating Kevin Chaucer’s return to the city.
Simon Forrester sat beside Tobias, tasting red wine, his gaze scanning the hall without seeing Gage Grant. He quietly asked: "Fourth Master didn’t show?"
Tobias Blackwood checked his watch: "He should be here soon."
Jack Hawthorne from the other side leaned in, whispering to Simon: "Why did you fight Fourth Master’s dad that night? Just walking in and fighting, too cool!"
Simon Forrester stared at the swirling crimson liquid in the goblet, suddenly drinking it all in one go.
His brow furrowed, still showing anger on his face.
Knowing the situation, Tobias tried to change the topic, but Simon openly replied: "That old scoundrel Zachary Grant hinted my wife could trade favors with him."
His voice wasn’t loud, but everyone in the hall heard it.
Kevin Chaucer slammed his goblet onto the ground, "I should have smashed his head that night!"
Zollner walked over, holding Simon’s shoulder, gently said: "From the look on Jules’s face that night, I guessed. Didn’t expect it to be true."
Jack Hawthorne looked troubled: "Is Old Man Grant crazy? The Forester’s lady, Quentin Thorne’s eldest daughter, wealthy and powerful—how could she do such a thing?"
Tobias Blackwood: "I had just returned home that night when First Shepard called to ask why Jules beat Zachary. I had Grandpa explain to First Shepard and learned Zachary said those things."
Simon Forrester asked: "What did Grandpa Blackwood say?"
Tobias Blackwood imitated Old Master Blackwood’s deep voice: "Zachary made a mistake, so I had young people beat him up! Without it, he’d be out!"
Everyone muttered in surprise, debating whether Quentin Thorne had evidence of Zachary Grant’s corruption.
Logan Lockwood was about to say Zachary held dirt on Quentin’s hand while fantasizing about exploiting his daughter; it was insane. As he was about to speak, Gage Grant, still bearing scars on his face, entered.
Everyone tacitly ended their conversation.
