Chapter 581 - 552: His Wife

(Additional update for monthly votes 9)Sienna Thornton lay in bed, bored, flipping through the book she bought at the airport yesterday, surprised to see Simon Forrester upstairs in less than ten minutes. "Did Mr. Harding leave already?"

"Yeah, he left."

Simon Forrester closed the door, grabbed a towel, and went into the bathroom to shower. He came out quickly. He stood in front of the luggage rack, changing into his pajamas with his back to Sienna. The man’s skin was smooth and firm, glowing softly.

Sienna grinned, watching him. "I wish I had ten-meter-long arms right now!"

Simon put on long pajama pants, turned around, and faced her while putting on a V-neck T-shirt, smiling. "You want to be a mother monkey?"

"Come on!" She kicked the blanket. "I just want to lie in bed and reach out... to give you a massage!"

As she said this, he had already gotten into bed, pulling her into his arms.

She obediently let him hold her, her cheek pressed against his warm chest, her foot playfully resting on his leg. After a while, she asked, "Is it okay that I didn’t go down to greet Mr. Harding?"

He laughed, unconcerned. "It’s fine, just a businessman looking to make connections. If I’d known he brought over some dubious company, I would’ve canceled tonight’s dinner and let Harrison Rowe talk to him instead."

Sienna was puzzled. "His companion seemed okay, quite quiet, didn’t say anything outrageous."

Simon rolled over, lying on his back, arms resting behind his head, his gaze still lingering on Sienna.

He looked at her for a while, then suddenly pinched her nose, smiling. "If he brought Mrs. Harding, then I would have taken you to dinner with them. My wife dining with that kind of so-called tycoon’s companion gives them too much face."

This was probably part of the Forrester family values and traditions. Simon once said that even though Grandma Forrester stayed with the Reed Family for decades, occasionally returning to the Forrester Family, her position as Mrs. Forrester remained unshakable, and Elder Forrester remained faithful for decades.

Zane Forrester and Sylvia Langley were also a long-distance couple, one in the United States, the other in Franland. Zane was even wealthier and younger than Mr. Harding but never let another woman overshadow Sylvia’s presence.

Sienna understood Simon’s point, feeling thoroughly delighted, and snuggled back into his embrace, smiling.

The two chatted away casually. Suddenly, she remembered something from the evening, so she clung to Simon and asked, "You said this evening that you would tell me how old I look, didn’t you?"

Simon was running his fingers through her soft black hair, and upon hearing this, he quickly recalled, but feigned contemplation. "When I first met you, I thought you were about my age."

Thinking back to when they first met, Simon was already thirty-two. She gasped in shock, propped herself up, and looked at him incredulously. "You thought I was in my thirties then? What about now? Don’t I look nearly forty to you?"

He laughed and pulled her back into his arms, kissing her hair, whispering close to her ear. "That year, I was eighteen, and you were the same age as me."

She got the hint, pushing his chest a couple of times, complaining, "Shameless," yet her face beamed with the sweetest smile.

Recalling how pretentious he was when they first met, wasn’t he just eighteen?

In the days that followed, Simon Forrester took Sienna to visit several famous spots in Norport, spending the most time on Wren’s Isle. They rode electric cars around the island, visited St. Theron’s Catholic Church, collected shells at Shellcove Beach, cycled along The Rainbow Road, watched the sunset on the island, and returned to their villa with fresh seafood bought that day.

After dinner, they sat on the third-floor viewing balcony, looking out at the sea at night, chatting and enjoying the ocean breeze.

Simon told Sienna that next time they visit, when she’s up for it, he’d take her to see The Twin Falls. He described it like this: "One side of the waterfall is in our country, while the other belongs to Vietmara. So, you can only raft to the middle on the river, you can’t go near the Vietmara line, or you’ll accidentally cross the border."

Sienna laughed. "Sounds interesting."

Simon also laughed. "There, you can see houses on the Vietnam side, and sometimes Vietnamese traders paddle over, selling some small goods on the river. It’s quite fun."

Listening to this, Sienna became intrigued, sat up from the recliner, grabbed his arm, and asked, "Is it far? Why don’t we go tomorrow?"

"Driving might take most of the day."

Sienna thought about it. The round trip would take at least three days, and they had originally planned to return to Brimfield the day after tomorrow because New Year’s was approaching, and they needed to spend it with family.

With that in mind, they had to put it off.

She sat back down, leaning against Simon, her cheek resting on his arm. The sea breeze lifted her light wool dress and soft black hair. Some hair blew onto Simon’s face, fragrant and soft, and he enjoyed the feeling.

He wrapped his arms tightly around her, kissed her black hair. "How about we come here once a year, just the two of us, no kids, no elderly?"

"Alright."

...

On the last day of 2022, Simon Forrester and Sienna Thornton set off from Norport back to Brimfield.

Early in the morning, just waking up, Old Master Forrester called, giving Simon a final ultimatum: by eight o’clock on the first morning of the New Year, he must be seen. Otherwise, Old Master Forrester would go to Fenmore Hill to give the naughty boy a good lesson.

Even more than eighty years old, Old Master Forrester’s scolding still had full vigor. From the other end of the phone, Sienna heard it too. As Simon hung up, still annoyed, she quickly comforted him. "Let’s go back and tell grandpa that I’m pregnant with noticeable early pregnancy symptoms. That’s why you’re with me, otherwise, everyone will think you’re turning into a dilettante."

Simon immediately snorted. "He scolds me and you want him to be happy? Is there such a good thing? Not going to tell him! Wait until you’ve given birth, then remind him to visit his great-grandson in the hospital!"

He spoke with such conviction, as if he really planned to do so, leaving Sienna both exasperated and amused. She asked back, "Do you think you can hide when the belly shows?"

At the mention of the belly, Simon immediately grinned and urged her to lay down.

She was puzzled. "Why?"

"I want to have a chat with my daughter."

"What?"

"Hurry, lie down."

Sienna lay down, speechless. Sure enough, he earnestly lay on her abdomen, first listening for a while to any sounds inside, then whispering a few words so softly that even Sienna couldn’t hear.

Curious to the extreme, Sienna pestered him for answers. At first, he refused to tell her, pretending it was a secret between father and daughter, but he couldn’t withstand her persistence. Once they were on the plane, he finally relented. "I told our daughter to be on her best behavior in mommy’s belly. Mommy’s going back to work and it’s hard, so she can’t make things too difficult for her..."
