Chapter 573 - 544: Companionship

Chapter 573 - 544: Companionship

Simon Forrester had just left not long ago when Melinda Linton and Quentin Thorne came in with some soup, another kind of anti-nausea soup.Melinda Linton was worried: "Annie, you haven’t eaten anything just now, have some soup."

Sienna Thornton glanced at the soup with floating scallions and ginger strands, feeling uneasy in her stomach again.

Seeing her frown, Quentin Thorne said to Melinda Linton, "Forget it, let’s see what Rex brings back later."

Melinda Linton could only take the soup out.

Quentin Thorne pulled over a makeup stool to sit down, looked at his pale daughter, and smiled, "Annie, congratulations on becoming a mom."

Sienna Thornton weakly smiled, "Thank you, Dad."

"When did you find out? Have you told the Forrester Family?"

"I just confirmed it this morning, and the Forrester Family doesn’t know yet."

Quentin Thorne nodded, "Old Master Forrester is quite superstitious. If there’s a chance, tell him. He might want to choose a day to prepare something."

Sienna Thornton knew how eager Elder Forrester was for a great-grandson. Just the thought of telling him about her pregnancy and him possibly being overjoyed made her a bit embarrassed. She softly said, "I’ll discuss it with Cyrus later. If we tell, it’ll be him who does it."

Quentin Thorne laughed heartily, his loud laughter echoing in the small room.

However, Sienna Thornton felt a bit anxious. After hesitating for a moment, she said, "My due date is early August next year, so I should rest from August until January the following year, not returning to work at the Treaty and Law Department until after the New Year holiday."

Quentin Thorne understood and gently patted her shoulder, saying with a smile, "I’ll discuss this matter with Director-General Linton. You must not lose what is yours just because of having a child."

"No..." Seeing Quentin Thorne didn’t get her point, Sienna Thornton anxiously said, "What I mean is, if I’m promoted to Deputy Director-General but then take maternity leave shortly after and rest for half a year, it would be unfavorable for the department’s work."

Quentin Thorne insisted, "I will discuss this with Director-General Linton, even the Minister, so don’t you worry!" After saying this, he comforted Sienna Thornton again before leaving the room.

Sienna Thornton listened to him saying he’d go to the Minister, which made her realize that her promotion to Deputy Director-General of the Treaty and Law Department was likely not in doubt.

.

Simon Forrester was gone for more than an hour and hadn’t returned, making Sienna Thornton sleepy. Struggling to stay awake, she sent him a voice message: "Are you going to the United States to buy some soda crackers?"

Despite scolding Simon Forrester for taking so long to buy biscuits, her weak body combined with wanting to act cute made her voice sound unusually sweet and coy.

After a while, Simon Forrester responded with a voice message, his tone dotingly gentle: "The ones you like aren’t available nearby, so I went to the mall at the old apartment downstairs; I’ll be back soon."

Their old apartment was in the New District, one north, one east from The Springs Residences. Brimfield is big, so Simon Forrester running back and forth like that takes at least two hours.

Thinking about how he not only remembered her favorite brand but also went out of his way on such a cold winter’s night to buy them, Sienna Thornton felt warm inside. She couldn’t blame him anymore and gently reminded him to drive safely.

When it was past nine o’clock, Simon Forrester finally came back, but Sienna Thornton had already taken a nap and was feeling quite refreshed.

Seeing Simon Forrester carrying a big shopping bag, she excitedly sat up in bed, reaching her arms out towards him: "What did you buy, so much?"

Simon Forrester sat by the bedside and opened the bag. Inside were several bags of various flavored soda crackers and a few snacks similar to them.

Sienna Thornton, being hungry, tried each one, and in the end, she left a pack of tomato-flavored soda crackers and a pack of plain baked bread slices, having Simon Forrester take the rest away.

Simon Forrester went out to get her some soda water, and when he returned, she was munching on the savory, crispy bread slices, one after another.

Seeing the scene, Simon Forrester had an overwhelming feeling of joy as if a picky child who ate nothing had finally loosened up and indulged themselves.

He walked over with a smile, asking, "Do you like this?"

Sienna Thornton frowned, "Not really like, just that eating this won’t make me feel like throwing up, so it’s all I can eat."

Simon Forrester picked up the outer packaging and examined it, "Quite a bit of additives. Tomorrow, I’ll take a pack to let the pastry chef at The Imperial Court Club make the same thing."

"Sure."

Simon Forrester picked up the soda water, bringing the straw to her lips: "Drink some water; this stuff is quite heaty."

She obediently took a few sips and then continued eating the baked bread slices.

Simon Forrester started undressing to take a shower, giving instructions as he went, "I’ll go shower first. If you need anything, call Auntie or our mom."

Sienna Thornton waved her hand, "Go ahead, I’m fine."

He went to shower, and after just finishing, still drying his hair, Sienna Thornton pushed the bathroom door open to wash her hands and face at the sink. After washing, she sprayed some mist on her face and patted it, then left.

Simon Forrester put on a bathrobe and followed her out, smiling, "Why haven’t you painted the walls recently?"

Knowing he was teasing her about applying night masks being like painting walls, Sienna Thornton retorted with mild annoyance, "That’s night masks! Sleeping masks! Not wall paint!" She looked up at him, asking, "Do you know any walls as pretty as me? Do you?"

He took the opportunity to pull her into his arms, giving her smooth, delicate cheek a kiss, "Honestly, there’s nothing as beautiful in this world as you."

Sienna Thornton felt sweet inside, leaning up to kiss him softly back, "You too."

He chuckled, cradling her into bed gently, "I’ll dry my hair, and I’ll be right over."

"Go ahead!"

Sienna Thornton rolled over to arrange her pillows, preparing to lie down.

The roar of the hairdryer came from the bathroom. Simon Forrester walked out, still drying his hair, and stood by the bed, watching her with a smile.

His hair short, dried quickly. After putting the hairdryer away, he changed into pajamas and slipped into bed beside her.

He embraced her, using his chin to nuzzle her soft hair.

Having slept here and there during the afternoon and evening, Sienna Thornton wasn’t sleepy and snuggled in his arms to chat.

She suggested, "Let’s not go to Kitano. I vomit at night; don’t know why, but I feel particularly weak and tired now, like I just can’t move, a lifeless feeling."

Simon Forrester recalled the morning at the hospital when Joyce Sutton mentioned that Sienna Thornton’s hcg levels were high, which might lead to a strong early pregnancy reaction, advising them to be mentally prepared.

Remembering she might be in this state for more than a month made his heart ache. He hugged her tightly, softly assuring, "Alright, then we’ll go when you’re feeling better. February is our wedding anniversary."

Sienna Thornton snuggled in his arms, counting on her fingers, "February, I’ll be three months pregnant, so I shouldn’t be throwing up by then, right?"

"Yes."

"Okay, then let’s wait until February. This half month, I’ll just rest at home; just too tiring..."

"Alright, I’ll stay with you."
