Chapter 554 - 526: The Old Man’s Request

Sienna Thornton laughed heartily, "I thought about trying it, but the idea of using your bathtub felt like an indirect intimate contact with you. That curiosity just got extinguished.""Are you saying it’s beneath you to have some intimate contact with me?"

The pressure from Simon Forrester’s hand grew heavier, making her gasp in pain, "Hey, take it easy."

Simon Forrester eased the pressure.

She closed her eyes again, getting comfortable.

"It’s not about feeling it’s beneath me or not, it’s a matter of principle. Besides..." she trailed off.

Simon Forrester asked, "Besides what?"

"Besides, I’m quite self-aware." She burst into laughter after saying that.

Simon Forrester also laughed, massaging her shoulders while mentioning that Old Master Forrester wasn’t expecting him to end up with someone like her.

She asked, "What kind of granddaughter-in-law does Grandpa like?"

"Meek, obedient, traditional. Just like he asked of you before: have three kids, stay home to take care of the family, and not work."

She suddenly called out, "Honey."

"Hmm?"

"Did you ever go on any blind dates before?"

"Yeah."

She was surprised, "Huh? You never mentioned it before."

He chuckled, "It’s not worth mentioning."

She furrowed her brows, murmuring, "I thought you hadn’t been on any."

"How could I have not, at the age I met you?"

Soaking in the bath, she seemed bored but quite eager to delve into the topic. Simon Forrester felt like he’d make a mistake if he continued talking, and tried several times to change the subject, but failed.

"So how many times did you go on blind dates?"

Simon Forrester casually said, "About five or six times." Actually, it was probably more, but he had forgotten.

Sienna Thornton, feeling bored, asked, "So what kind of girls were they?"

"I need to think about it."

"Hahaha, alright, hurry up and think." She was very excited, splashing her hands in the water like a child.

Simon Forrester couldn’t help but laugh, then after thinking for a moment, said, "There were daughters of entrepreneurs, teachers or doctors, and civil servants."

"So many, and not a single one caught your eye?"

"No."

"Why not?"

"Who knows what their personalities are like? What if one of them is overly clingy and expects me to accompany her every day? I don’t have that kind of time outside of the United States."

"But how would you know their personalities without dating them?"

"Never had the urge to pursue them."

After hearing all this, Sienna Thornton finally understood what he meant.

He’s not just someone who needs a compatible personality; he’s an older man with high standards for looks and feelings.

She snorted disdainfully, "You single men always say you haven’t found the right person or are too busy to date, but it’s really because your standards are too high."

"Isn’t that obvious? For a lifetime partner, who wouldn’t have some requirements?"

She smugly remarked, "The fact that I could beat all those blind date candidates means I’m pretty outstanding inside and out, right?"

Simon Forrester didn’t speak, thinking: If she weren’t exceptional, how could Thomas Reed have admired her for years and respected her completely?

She herself said that the reason she went to Harvard for her PhD was thanks to Thomas’s suggestion and assistance in applying for student loans. Otherwise, she had only planned to finish her master’s at Braden University and then start working.

This was why Simon Forrester helped Thomas when his real estate investment failed, leaving him deeply in debt to the bank.

But he didn’t say any of this, just kept it to himself.

After talking for a while more, Simon Forrester went to shower, planning to get some work done before bed.

Sienna Thornton, after her bath, was drying her hair and suddenly remembered Simon talking to Gage Grant for a while in the evening, so she went to his study and sat opposite him.

"What did Gage Grant talk to you about tonight? I saw you guys chatting for quite some time."

While checking his emails, Simon Forrester glanced at her, then back at his computer, his expression complicated, "I almost forgot about that."

"Forgot about what?"

"He said Maeve was seeking sponsorship for a national tour and went out to drink with people, and he happened to catch her."

Sienna Thornton frowned, "Why say it like that? Isn’t social drinking normal in the entertainment and business circles?"

Seeing Simon Forrester wasn’t responding, she continued, "So what does Fourth Young Master Grant plan to do after catching her?"

Simon Forrester remained silent.

Sienna Thornton thought he didn’t know, so she didn’t press further, just saying she’d call Maeve when she returned to her room.

After she left, Simon Forrester stopped his work and recalled what Gage Grant had said earlier.

But the more he thought about it, the more uncomfortable he felt, so he went back to his work.

...

On Saturday noon, the chef Flynn from the old mansion came with an assistant, bringing a large amount of food, imported seafood, various meats, dried goods, vegetables, and fruits.

Sienna Thornton and Simon Forrester had lunch with Melinda Linton and returned home to work separately; one tidied up the living room, while the other checked for anything missing for entertaining guests and prepared to go out for more.

Sienna Thornton noticed they hadn’t brought the red wine when they moved, so she said she would go to a nearby mall to buy some.

Simon Forrester reminded her that Tobias Blackwood and Jack Hawthorne were coming over that evening and that these people have discerning tastes, so the wine from the mall would be too ordinary for them. He suggested she go to The Imperial Court’s wine cellar to pick out a few good ones.

Sienna Thornton drove there by herself.

The Imperial Court is located within the city ring, and she encountered a traffic jam on the way, taking almost an hour to get there, arriving by evening.

On a Saturday evening, The Imperial Court was bustling, with no parking space available on the ground. Sienna Thornton circled around, too lazy to go to the underground parking lot, and stopped her car right at the entrance.

The general manager might have been busy and didn’t come over, or expected her to park in the underground lot and directly take the elevator to the lobby.

So when she parked at the entrance and got out of the car, she didn’t see the general manager greeting her, as he usually would.

As she got out and was about to enter the lobby, the welcoming staff saw her car parked outside and politely said, "Ma’am, the car can’t be parked here. Please turn right as you exit and park in the underground parking lot."

Sienna Thornton looked at her watch, worried about delays and hitting the evening rush hour on her way back. It would already be seven by the time she got home, so she asked, "Can you make an exception? I’ll just be in and out quickly."

The staff, guessing she was just here to meet someone and probably not a member, became a bit more rigid, "I’m sorry, ma’am, but you need to cooperate!"

Sienna Thornton frowned, initially wanting to ask if they knew who she was, but thought it would be too arrogant and bad for her usually friendly reputation, so she reluctantly turned around, planning to move her car to the underground lot and park before coming back up.

Just as she turned, she heard a flurry of footsteps behind her, accompanied by unfamiliar yet ingratiating voices, "Director Thorne, please wait!"
