Chapter 1316 - 1311: Obviously Old Friends, Yet Strangers in Their Eyes

Chapter 1316 - 1311: Obviously Old Friends, Yet Strangers in Their Eyes

Sophie lowered her gaze with a cold expression, aware only of her own feelings at this moment. It was clear they were old friends, once dining and clubbing together... but now, in their eyes, she was a stranger; that feeling...

Felix Shaw didn’t say anything, leaning back in his chair, his hands clasped together, thumbs unconsciously chasing each other, his almond-shaped eyes playfully observing Sophie. Mia Foster also looked curious, wondering who this new member might be, someone who could make a man like Nicholas Croft serve so humbly.

Nicholas Croft nodded apologetically, "Traffic jam on the way, that’s why I’m late."

"Alright, now that everyone is here, let’s start." Evander Lancaster suggested as he picked up chopsticks for Sophia Hamilton, "Eat up, don’t keep Genevieve hungry."

He then grabbed the red wine and came over to Nicholas Croft, "Come on, big bro, haven’t seen you in half a year, let me pour you a glass."

Nicholas Croft nodded and curled his lips slightly. After Evander poured the wine for him, he proposed to Sophie, "Little beauty, want a drink too?"

Sophie...

Sitting coldly in her chair, she stared ahead as if she hadn’t heard Evander speak to her.

Evander laughed and shook his head, "Feisty!"

Then proceeded to pour the drink for Nathan Moore and the others.

Sophia buried her head in her food, her mind far from anything but the cuisine.

Titus Zane and Mia Foster, however, were different, aligned with Sophie’s faction, now looking displeased at the beauty sitting next to Nicholas Croft.

Once Evander had poured drinks for everyone, Mia was the first to raise her glass, looking at Sophie with a half-smile, "Big bro, you haven’t introduced the beauty beside you yet."

Nicholas Croft raised his glass as well, with his other hand wrapping around Sophie’s shoulder, smiling, "Oh, this is my goddaughter I recognized in the United States, she’s called Genevieve."

As soon as Nicholas finished speaking, two scoffs were heard at the same time from Titus and Mia.

Nicholas acted as if he hadn’t heard, continuing to introduce Sophie, "Genevieve, these are all your dad’s good brothers, these ladies are their wives. If you ever feel bored, you can ask a few sisters to hang out, have a meal or go shopping."

"Big bro, I have to apologize; you know how busy I am with work, I barely have time to go shopping with your little beauty," Mia rudely refused, and Titus chimed in right after.

"I’m busy with my art exhibition now, Nathan dragged me here; seems like I’ll have to stay up all night again."

Nathan Moore...

Felix...

For these two men, dealing with their petulant women was helpless; they pampered them like little ancestors, never daring to scold or criticize them, knowing full well the artificial beauty was Sophie yet afraid to expose the truth.

Nicholas lowered his gaze; such a blunt refusal left his handsome face somewhat bitter, yet he still gently told Sophie, "It’s alright if the two sisters are busy; if you feel bored, your dad will accompany you."

Sophie remained silent, not explaining to Titus and Mia that she was Sophie, her face cold, her gaze fixed ahead as if considering everything insignificant.

The group clinked glasses and drank wine, chatting casually while eating, Nicholas picked up food but didn’t eat it himself, instead he held it to Sophie’s lips.

"Try this, Genevieve, it’s your favorite."

Titus and Mia found Nicholas’ fawning behavior speechless, burying their heads in their meals like Sophia, out of sight, out of mind.

Sophie coldly glanced at the food in front of her, then looked ahead.
