Chapter 2405 - 2469: The Captain
Chapter 2405 - 2469: The Captain
Twenty minutes later, Li Yifei and the Saintess got out of the car. This place was a factory, looking abandoned or not operational. Li Yifei and the Saintess stopped here and saw that car.Inside the factory, a white man was berating a few people, yelling, "I gave you so many guns, and you can’t even kill anyone. You’re all useless!"
"Boss... you can’t blame us. That guy suddenly hit the brakes, and we had no way to react!" a subordinate argued defensively.
"Damn you, because of your failure, I lost a million Euros. Are you going to give me that money?" the white man swore.
"Bo... boss, we don’t have to give them money, right? When we took this deal, we didn’t say we had to kill anyone to get paid. The other side just hired us to take action..."
"Bullshit! Do you know who the other side is? Do you know what kind of people they are, and you still dare to do this? I really don’t know what’s in your heads. Are they all trash? You can’t do anything right all day."
The reprimanded subordinate didn’t dare speak anymore, and as he was about to admit his fault, he suddenly felt a chill on his back and saw the boss’s eyes staring behind him with a stunned expression. He quickly turned around and was also shocked, pointing at the approaching figures, saying, "You... you two, why are you here?"
The newcomers were Li Yifei and the Saintess. They entered unhindered, not because no one tried to stop them, but because those who did were already lying on the ground.
The white boss swallowed a mouthful of saliva. To him, Yellow people were not worth being afraid of, so he reached for his waist and said, "You’ve got quite the courage. It’s one thing you didn’t get killed, but you dare to come looking for me!"
"I was curious about who wants to kill me, so I had to come!" Li Yifei said with his hands behind his back, while the Saintess looked around with great curiosity.
The white boss sneered and said, "Originally, I thought the million was gone, but I didn’t expect you would bring yourselves to me. This really is a gift from God. With this money, I can retire. Haha, since you offer yourselves, don’t blame me... Ah! My hand!"
Just as the white boss was about to fire, a black light shot through his wrist, not merely piercing but severing it completely. His hand flew off, and the gun in it naturally dropped to the ground. The white boss clutched his hand, yelling in agony, while his subordinates, after a moment of stunned silence, tried to retaliate, only to see a blur before their eyes. They then felt their strength drain away and were sent flying, either crashing to the ground or slamming into walls, utterly incapable of mounting any defense.
Li Yifei resolved the fight in just a few seconds, dusting off his hands as he walked towards the white boss, who was still crying out in pain. He spent a few minutes extracting the truth.
This group was a local gang, typically engaged in violent activities. They suddenly received a call from someone of considerable repute and influence, asking them to kill a Chinese man and an American woman for a reward of one million Euros, an enormous sum. If they could get it, it would be the most money they would ever earn, so they agreed without hesitation. Thus, this ’assassination’ happened, albeit quite unprofessionally.
Li Yifei and the Saintess drove off with a vehicle from the factory. Though the gang members weren’t killed, each was left with unforgettable memories and punishment for life.
"Let’s investigate this person!" Li Yifei said to the Saintess.
The Saintess shook the phone in her hand, saying, "He’s in trouble now."
"I think we need to change our route. Our movements might have been compromised this time!"
"Yes, to avoid danger, if our plane is flying over Africa and gets chased by a missile, it won’t matter how skilled we are!" The Saintess nodded in agreement. So, instead of heading to the airport, they drove directly to a neighboring country, where the Saintess arranged for a private plane to land at a private airport in South Africa.
Of course, this only ensured a certain level of flight safety. Whether or not it would truly be safe depended on the journey itself.
At the very least, Li Yifei and the Saintess carried parachutes. If a missile did come as they predicted, they could jump at once.
On the plane, Li Yifei held a map, a map of a large province in South Africa, marked with various locations, all potential sites for investigation. In South Africa, the Americans held significant power, but Huaxia’s influence was not weak either. Though the Chinese had certain disadvantages, as the nation developed and grew stronger, it increasingly made its voice heard internationally, and more people listened. The living conditions for Chinese in South Africa were somewhat better now than before.
According to gathered information, many reported seeing very tall black or white individuals at these locations, while others claimed to have seen Asian individuals of similar stature.
Sifting through possibilities required eliminating naturally tall athletes first.
In an unknown place, there lay a massive island, with no knowledge of its size. However, towering mountains loomed in the distance, and temples dotted the nearer landscape. Among the dense forests and towering peaks, stood a person with hands behind his back, on a mountaintop, indiscernible as to how long he had been there. He stood there without the aura of smoke or fire, making it seem as though he wasn’t even present, proving he was undoubtedly a master, and a top-tier one at that.
Standing about 1.8 meters tall, he was not particularly robust, wearing a blue cloth robe, with short hair. From the back, his age could not be discerned. Just then, someone climbed swiftly up the mountain. As they reached the peak, they slowed down, approached, and kneeled on the ground, greeting the individual as Captain.
The blue-robed person turned slowly; his face bore no striking features, and even his facial features were ordinary. In combination, he still looked quite plain, one couldn’t even guess his age, whether thirty, forty, or fifty or sixty.
However, being addressed as Captain proved his identity. This person was likely the enigmatic leader of the legendary Noah’s Ark Organization, known as the Captain, though his relationship with Murong Zheng remained unclear.
He turned back around, briefly gazing at the kneeling subordinate, and after a minute spoke, "Stand up!"
"Thank you, Captain." The kneeling man rose, saying, "Captain, we’ve arranged everything."
"Hmm." The blue-robed man nodded slightly, his eyes looking into the distance, as if perceiving events through scattered clouds.
The subordinate was an elderly man, appearing to be seventy or eighty years old, his face slightly aged, yet his frame was agile. His swift climb earlier attested to his strength.
The old man seemed not just respectful but fearful of the blue-robed individual. He hesitated, saying, "Captain, why don’t we just eliminate them directly? Such enemies are already very strong. Given time, they’ll become an even greater threat!"
"You don’t need to know for now. Just do as I say!" The blue-robed man replied calmly, without anger.
The old man dared not inquire further, nodding vigorously, saying, "Captain, I’ll keep an eye on things there at all times. Black Tiger, White Sheep, and Yellow Bull have already gone over. With Green Mouse stationed there, the four should suffice!"
"We suffered before due to underestimating their capabilities, so I don’t want carelessness again. Green Dragon, you understand?" The blue-robed man’s tone was mild, but Green Dragon, the old man, immediately bent over, repeatedly affirming, "Captain, I... I’ll not err again."
"Your calculations have always been reliable, I still trust you!"
"Thank you for your trust, Captain. I will not let you down."
"Haha, off you go!" The blue-robed man said, turning his gaze back to the sea of clouds. The height of this mountain was unknown, enveloped in mist from halfway up. Occasionally, the wind would clear it momentarily, yet both vistas above and below remained obscured.
After the mountaintop returned to only the blue-robed man, peace returned. There was not even a wind sound, only the blue-robed man’s quiet words, "The time isn’t right, the time isn’t right yet."
Hurrying down the hill, the old man, Green Dragon, soon gathered people to give instructions, feeling somewhat relieved afterward, though a bit of worry lingered in his furrowed brow. Once alone, he murmured to himself, "The Captain wants them alive, but these two... they’re among the world’s top powers, probably easier to kill than capture alive. Sigh, I wonder if those four can complete the mission; two against one should give them an edge, being strong among their peers."
He finished muttering and clasped a fist against his palm, saying, "If I had known, I should’ve dealt with them from the start to avoid this hassle."
Of course, these were thoughts only he would hear, as a figure bearing the Noah’s Ark Organization codename Green Dragon, his power was naturally superior.
Meanwhile, Li Yifei and the Saintess knew nothing of this. Though they were on guard, they could not predict such developments.
Stepping off their plane, Li Yifei and the Saintess exchanged a smile. During these days, every gaze exchanged was laden with affection, occurring frequently. Luckily, they were alone, or others might accuse them of flaunting their relationship.
Hand in hand with their bags, they departed the airport, foregoing a vehicle, and walked down a path for nearly an hour, when Li Yifei suddenly stopped, pulling a can of soda from his backpack, and handing it to the Saintess. He said, "Honey, could you chill this for me?"
"What did you call me?" The Saintess’s eyebrow twitched, as if she hadn’t heard clearly, her voice altering slightly.
