Chapter 153: Celebration
Chapter 153: Celebration
Resting for the rest of the day, Ray awaited his companions’ return. The video was already out in the public; in hours it had billions of views. They deleted it, but it was posted everywhere.
It was a five-minute video in which Jade went through the whole plan of the military and their end goal, which was to end with immortals. Showing Alexanderia by her side and telling the story of what had happened to her, she had ended by telling people to stay away from any base of military as much as possible.
The public had no idea about the negotiations or the war that was bound to happen. Chaos took over the world, yet a new figure gave them a new hope. All the kings and Alexandria had accepted Jade’s peace proposal after the war.
One by one big companies announced their separation from the military; smaller divisions followed soon. The last nail in the coffin was a report that two other generals had quit.
Only five hours had passed since the release of the video, yet the whole world had reacted the way that Ray expected them to, going to the side with the higher survival rate.
Ray enjoyed his pasta with the red wine as the butlers watched him eat in silence. The mansion had five floors with nearly 100 different rooms. Ray didn’t have time to explore all of it yet, but five butlers were always there to supply anything he needed. Unlike him, they didn’t give a fuck about Jade or Marian; apparently, Cindi only told them about Ray.
"You guys don’t have memory cards, right?" Ray asked their superviser, the boy that he had met before.
"No, sir, we service the lady in Mars; we only stayed here to service you temporarily."
"What should I call you?"
"You can call me whatever you like, sir."
Playing with his food, Ray stared at him; he was truly beautiful by all standards, yet his magic seemed to be level 3 or 4 at most. "I asked your name."
"Trom, sir."
"Tell me, how would you kill an opponent that is far stronger than you?" He asked it as a genuine question.
The butler thought for a minute before answering, "I found its weaknesses at first, maybe; I don’t know, sir."
With silence, Ray continued eating his food; it was way better than what he cooked at the bunker. Marian could barely cook an egg, so all the food was on him.
"Make your favorite breakfast for me tomorrow morning." He left for the conference room where the other three had gone for a few minutes waiting for him.
Jade and Marian were sitting next to one another in a pair of suits handmade by Marian, and Alexandria was on the other side of the room watching over them silently.
"Aren’t they the heroes of earth?" Ray sat on the table; the room was made for twenty people at least with a long table in the middle of it.
Jade giggled, "As if you were not."
Marian picked up all the documents from the table, throwing them on the other side. "Do you want to know the details? It took 14 hours."
"No, I was never made for this type of politics to begin with." Ray enjoyed the mind games between people, yet a long-ass meeting was mostly boring. "Any information on the king of silence?"
"You have two beautiful women in front of you, and the first thing you ask about is some other man!"
Ray took Jade’s lips in a gentle kiss. "With you two I have all night."
With his warmth on his lips Jade explained, "I can’t wait to get to that part, but first what are you going to do with her?" Her eyes looked at the frustrated woman on the other side of the room.
"She will be joining you in your defense." Ray shrugged. "She is a general still."
Marian acted like she didn’t exist. "Why are you saying it like you will not work us?"
Because the real threat is three things, not the military as a brand but three people inside of it: Armstrong, who has the artifact; the brain; and at last the strongest of the bunch, the King of Silence himself. You guys can deal with the two first, but only I can face him."
Jade asked with a frustrated tone, "He has five magics, so what if five of us attack him at the same time?"
"That wouldn’t work. He’s too dangerous; the reason is he’s too much like me." After a few of his schemes Ray noticed the similarity of their mindset; none were too scared of the fires that could swallow them.
"Can I go?" Alexanderia jumped between their conversation.
Marian pointed at the door. "Out of the mansion? Yes. I don’t want you in the same building."
Ray didn’t care about their personal drama. "Go to the dark lady; she will give you a place to stay. I don’t have any orders for you; just help them keep their defenses."
In a weird silence, she left the room, leaving the trio alone once more. Jade continued their previous conversion: "Can you do it tho?"
"I don’t know, but if it’s someone, it’s me." Ray paused for a second. "He will attack crystal farms, yet I’m sure he won’t show up at all. Your first priority should be to protect those at all costs. For the next few months nothing major will happen until the brain is complete to perform on its own."
"Noted, I will assemble a 24/7 defense tomorrow morning, but are you sure you don’t want to be a part of this? Your name shall remain in the history of mankind."
"You two will remember me; that’s enough for me."
"Enough with the heavy stuff. Go to our room and wait for us; we have a special surprise for you." Marian said with a seductive smile on her lips.
"As you say," Ray winked at both of them, getting ready to leave the room; despite the fun he was going to have, his mind was still on the king of silence.
