Chapter 446: A Domain without a Name
When Leo, the real Leo opened his eyes, he didn’t understand what he was seeing. The reason being was because it made absolutely no sense. In his left eye he could see the figures of Adam, Lily, Luna, Crystal, Morgan and Ethan while in his right he saw Rachel and the others.
He could hear words being spoken in his voice that were not his own but he had no control over any of it. He tried to move but his body refused to listen. That was until he realized that he didn’t have a body anymore.
An unrelenting panic began to sink in. How was this possible? What was happening to him? How did he even get here? He didn’t even know where here was!
The moment that the others had parted ways with him, he had felt an unbearable drowsiness and had closed his eyes for what he had thought was a merely a second. As the possibilitiies that came to his mind began to grow darker, a voice cut through the silence.
"No Leo. You have not been kidnapped. Nor are you in any danger at the moment. At least for now." The voice lacked any emotion but the words offered little to no comfort.
’Who are you?! Where am I?! Why are you doing this to me?!
Leo wanted to scream but without a voice of his own right now, he couldn’t even do that.
"I am of no consequence if your friends succeed in this trial. As for where you are, It is a domain without a name, created by the system to serve as a place to observe the trials. As for your final question, that in itself is the wrong question. I wasn’t the one to do this to you. In fact, I would say that I am the prisoner here."
Leo felt a chill for some reason as the voice continued unhindered from a place Leo couldn’t even see.
"This trial was being built from the moment you stepped into this world. Each and every choice you have made has been observed, quantified and replicated. The trial of Heaven and Hell is not for you alone. If either group fails to clear this dungeon or the you created to assist them dies, So shall you."
Leo wanted to shout, retort or refute anything this voice said but he knew deep down that this voice wasn’t lying. In fact he was confident that it couldn’t lie at all.
"As for the spirits of your weapon, they have been transferred to the Paths that your friends have chosen for the time being. You have met them before so you know what they look like. However to maintain the balance required to keep these dungeons from collapsing, the Spirit of Death has been sent to the Path of Light while the Spirt of Death has been sent to the Path of Darkness."
The announcement of what was happening with Mors and Astra definitely concerned Leo. They were like children and the idea of them being with those weird versions that he had once seen concerned him deeply.
He once again began to struggle, trying to at least do something which caused the voice to let out a sort of mechanical laughter that felt hollow.
"You are concerned over these Spirits? As they are now, they are just another shackle placed upon you. If you destroyed them, it would make things much easier for us."
There is no US. I won’t harm them nor will I let you harm them!
"That is against your best interests but I guess that such inefficiencies are bound to rise with the notion of free will. Fate is stagnant and all paths lead to the same end."
Leo could feel rage simmering in his soul as he mentally screamed SHUT THE FUCK UP!
And the voice complied, falling silent for now, content to watch as System messages began to echo in Leo’s ear.

Leo began to feel nauseous when he read the final two lines of system messages that appeared before his eyes. He was wondering if this was some sort of sick joke by the system.

Leo stared at the glowing names and felt something inside him break.

It made sense in a twisted way. Luna had been the first person to join him in the game, the first person to stand at his side. The system had taken that and turned her into the opening trial for the Gate to Heaven because she had chosen the Path of Darkness.Rachel had been the first party member to choose the Path of Light, so the system had placed her as the first obstacle for those who walked toward Hell.
It was logical. It was orderly.And it was horrifying.
Leo felt cold terror settle into him. The system was not using imaginary bosses. It had taken the people he cared for and replicated them with precision. It had recreated their power, their appearance and would most likely amplify their strengths to make them even stronger.
Watching his friends die, even if it was not the real version of themselves would be horrifying and he wanted nothing more than to stop it from happening.
But all Leo could do was watch.
