"Ready for prep, I’m going now," Ji Chuan said.

After hanging up the phone, Ji Chuan temporarily pulled his thoughts back and got up to leave.

As Commander Qiu was having surgery, the director personally came to arrange it. When Ji Chuan emerged, he repeatedly reminded, "The surgery isn’t major, but you must be very careful. Try not to have any postoperative complications."

"I understand." The director was referring to the risk of affecting the vocal cords post-operation, and Ji Chuan would do his utmost best to prevent that from happening.

"Hurry up and prepare for the surgery." The director patted Ji Chuan on the shoulder.

Ji Chuan changed into sterile clothes and was doing pre-surgery preparations when he heard someone outside the operating room calling his name: "Ji Chuan! Dr. Ji!"

He listened closely and recognized it was Qiu Xinyi, so he remained silent without responding.

"Director Ji, someone’s calling from outside..." his assistant reminded him.

"Ignore it," Ji Chuan said calmly, "The surgery is about to start, and this is for the commander. We must ensure nothing goes wrong! We must eliminate all distractions from our minds, anything unrelated to the surgery should not be heard."

"Yes."

Qiu Xinyi had planned to exchange a few words with Ji Chuan before the surgery, but he completely ignored her. After calling a few times outside the operating room, she gave up.

Ji Chuan was ready, and on the other side, Commander Qiu had completed the disinfection process. Lying on the operating table, he looked at Ji Chuan: "I’m counting on you."

"Don’t worry." Ji Chuan nodded and signaled to the anesthetist beside the operating table, "Start anesthesia."

Ji Chuan remained tense in surgery while Qiu Xinyi was pacing anxiously in the hallway. Besides being concerned about her father, she also wondered if Ji Chuan noticed that outfit.

If he saw the outfit, there should be some reaction, right?

"Xinyi, don’t worry. The commander won’t have major issues, you can trust Ji Chuan’s skills. Besides, this isn’t a high-difficulty surgery," the director said, trying to reassure the anxious Qiu Xinyi.

"Yes. Thank you, Uncle Lin. If you have work, go ahead, I’ll just wait here," Qiu Xinyi said.

Director Lin glanced at his watch and said, "The surgery is quick. He’s been in for about half an hour now. Your father’s condition might be slightly complex, so it could take up to an hour. Be patient."

"Okay. I understand."

Inside the operating room, the surgery was nearing its end. In the midst of this intense procedure, Ji Chuan suddenly experienced a strong heart palpitation and a dizzy spell. He quickly steadied his scalpel and gritted his teeth, saying, "Help me, I’m a bit dizzy!"

The assistant immediately supported Ji Chuan. Seeing his somewhat off complexion, they guessed, "Director Ji, are you experiencing low blood sugar? Perhaps you should take a break? Let me take over?"

But the strange sensation vanished as quickly as it came. Ji Chuan shook his head, "It’s fine, no big deal. Just hold on a bit more, it’s almost done."

However, the assistant was scared into a cold sweat, luckily Director Ji controlled the scalpel well. If it had accidentally nicked the carotid artery, it would have been disastrous.

Ji Chuan continued the surgery, but the assistant was still concerned about him, so they told the instrument nurse, "Quickly, call the pharmacy and have them prepare a bag of glucose!"
