Chapter 29 Solving the Meeting Person
Chapter 29 Solving the Meeting Person
Ronan glanced at the watch in his hand and said with some pleasure:
"Then let's go meet that guy who's been guarding your father's grave. It's not late yet; the forums only open at night. If they don't open at night, it lowers the so-called expectations and prestige. It's only right at midnight."
To be precise, Ronan wasn't particularly concerned about it, but when he thought of the classic setting of Hell Girl, which is logging into that website at midnight, he immediately felt relieved.
Although the time itself is not important, from a visual perspective, the early morning does add to the eerie atmosphere and makes the ghost stories even more mysterious.
Without hesitation, O'Neill and the two of them walked out of the store, sharing a black umbrella, and headed towards the car outside.
O'Neill opened the car door, gazing at the dazzling city lights, and was overcome with emotion. She said to Ronan:
"I finally feel like I can get a proper look at Herodo under the drizzle."
Ronan knew that O'Neill was reminiscing about her old life and saying a final goodbye to the past. Her mindset would likely undergo a transformation from now on.
He closed the car door for O'Neill, got into the driver's seat himself, and said:
"Don't worry, from now on, whether it's sunny, rainy, snowy, or thundery, you'll be able to see Heluodu in different weather conditions, and the city's neon lights will always shine for you."
After saying that, Ronan drove toward O'Neill's father's grave.
Ronan felt something was off. In the second game world, it was commonplace to casually grant ordinary people special abilities, which was not a problem in the official setting and did not require any investigation into the reasons.
Often, a little girl is suddenly given an ability, which is then given to a traveler to elevate the emotional connection and allow the plot to progress smoothly. Players enjoy the game, and the story unfolds perfectly, so there's no need to delve too deeply into the details.
Ronan felt that this was also the difference between copywriting and reality, but now that he was in the world of Herodo, he couldn't help but delve into the reasons behind it.
What he was most curious about was why O'Neill's father was able to acquire this ability, and why O'Neill was able to inherit it. He thought to himself, "Hero, there has to be a reasonable explanation."
The car finally arrived near the cemetery. Ke Qi controlled his clone, and Oona Li also summoned her clone. The two of them shared a black umbrella and walked towards the cemetery deep in the park.
At this moment, Ronan's clone asked Onali's clone:
Who do you think is the mastermind behind this?
O'Neill looked completely bewildered, not understanding Ronan's meaning at all, and asked:
What is meant by "mastermind"?
Ronan knew in his heart that O'Neill was far too naive.
Ronan said to Onali across the car:
"Don't you think this sounds like a deliberately fabricated ghost story?"
O'Neill froze instantly, staring at Ronan with wide, bewildered eyes. She held up two fingers, circled her eyes, and looked at Ronan to express her shock.
Ronan thought to himself that this move was truly classic.
He sighed softly, tilted his head to one side towards Oonali, and spread his hands in a helpless gesture—a classic second-person pose that seemed particularly fitting for the current atmosphere.
He deliberately softened his tone, speaking in a classic, gentle, and amicable manner:
"Don't you think this sounds a lot like what evil citizens do? The purpose of evil citizens is to stir up ghost stories, create trouble for travelers, make them grow through hardships, and finally defeat the monsters and reap the rewards."
O'Neill seemed to understand, but not quite. She mimicked Ronan's sigh and shrugging gestures, and asked blankly:
"So you mean, the O'Neill Photo Studio is a ghost story case deliberately orchestrated by someone, and the power of judgment my father possessed was also bestowed upon him by this person?"
Hesitation and turmoil finally surfaced in O'Neill's eyes.
Ke Qi knew that for this strange girl who had experienced so many changes, knowing the truth would only cause her more pain.
She always regarded her father as a righteous man, but he was merely given power to turn an event that would have resulted in no casualties into a tragic death, all to cater to the traveler's game.
Ronan was well aware of what O'Neill was thinking at that moment, and he made no attempt to hide it, speaking bluntly and sharply.
His doll walks slowly in the rain. When he sees Oona's doll standing silently, he casually throws his umbrella on the ground and lets the rain soak him, creating a sense of atmosphere. This is a common design in many classic remakes.
Ronan sometimes makes fun of himself.
He had long been accustomed to applying Eryou's thinking to everything. As long as he acted in accordance with Eryou's logic, he could remain invincible in this world.
The pattering rain perfectly complemented the atmosphere, and Ronan slowly began to speak:
"Don't you think this is all part of a meticulously planned scheme from beginning to end? The mysterious power, the inexplicable figure guarding your father's grave, the ability whose origin you have no idea about, and this classic family entanglement."
"The father, who presided over the trial, walked the line between justice and evil, ultimately leading to tragedy. Every aspect fits the bill, and in the end, it created a strange tale like you who would never intentionally harm a traveler. Therefore, I conclude that this is a meticulously designed ghost story case."
At this moment, Oona's clone stood in the rain, her body soaked by the rain, and she was at a loss for what to do.
Ronan began by saying:
"Don't be confused. You may have been under someone else's control before, but all your past experiences are real. Don't forget our original intentions. I will avenge you. I will never watch my comrades suffer."
The two figures finally arrived in front of the grave.
Sure enough, the dark figure still stood there, its form exactly the same as the one seen last time.
The shadowy figure, not expecting the two to return, said in a low voice:
"I didn't expect it to be just the two of you. It seems that person's agreement has failed, and the related secrets have been leaked. Well then, let me deal with you guys who came here."
Ronan had a bad feeling; it looked like war was about to break out.
He immediately drove the car to a distance, sat inside, and let the torrential rain wash over the car body.
O'Neill fastened her seatbelt meticulously, her expression complex, as if she had come to terms with many things, and then spoke:
"Thank you, Ronan."
Ronan drove Ornally towards the city, away from the suburbs, leaving only the doll and Ornally's clone behind.
Ronan didn't respond to her thanks, but instead asked with some interest:
"Do you think we can beat that guy?"
Oona seemed to be seriously considering this question. She gently raised her small hand and cracked her knuckles, as if assessing her combat strength.
"That guy seems pretty intimidating, probably around level 20 or 30. And the ability level classification of these evil citizens and communicators is different from our ghost stories."
To Ronan, this sounded like a statement that suggested they might be able to take a fight.
He just reached level 7.
Let's try using a different doll to test the waters.
