Chapter 87 Mouth to Mouth
Chapter 87 Mouth to Mouth
"Mm," Bai Rongbei responded.
"Brother, I haven't seen you this happy in a long time." Bai Si'an pushed up his glasses, a smile on his lips. He hadn't seen his brother this happy in a long time.
Bai Rongbei did not refute.
He watched as Su Wanwan was pulled around in circles by Lin Weiwei, her eyes crinkling into crescents with laughter, her cheeks flushed, her hair slightly disheveled, and her whole body glowing in the firelight.
Indeed, he was very happy.
Bai Si'an was also secretly pleased.
Before Lin Weiwei and Su Wanwan arrived, the two brothers had never felt so relaxed.
Since the two of them arrived, Bai Si'an felt that their lives seemed to have hope again.
The festivities continued late into the night.
The firewood gradually burned into charcoal, and the flames dwindled.
The wind blowing from the Gobi Desert carries a chill.
Zhao Dayong yawned: "It's getting late, we have to get up early tomorrow, shall we call it a day?"
Only then did everyone reluctantly get up to say goodbye.
"Commander Bai, thank you for your hospitality today!"
"Wanwan, congratulations! Do your best in the performing arts troupe!"
"Weiwei, let's drink together again next time!"
"Take care, everyone!" Lin Weiwei waved her hand, though she was a little tired, she was still in high spirits.
After seeing off the last guest, the courtyard suddenly became quiet.
All that remained was a scene of utter devastation: empty plates, empty bowls, bones, sunflower seed shells... and the embers of the campfire, now glowing red.
Su Wanwan leaned against the door frame, her eyelids drooping.
The effects of the alcohol hadn't completely worn off; she felt dizzy and lightheaded, and her vision was blurry.
Bai Rongbei glanced at her: "Go and rest, Si'an and I will pack up."
"I...I'll help too..." Su Wanwan said, reaching to pick up the plates, but her legs gave way and she almost fell.
Bai Rongbei reached out to support her: "Listen to me, go and rest."
His hands were steady, and the warmth emanated from his clothes.
Su Wanwan looked up at him. In the dim light, his face was somewhat blurry, but his eyes were very clear.
"Hmm..." she obediently replied, then turned and slowly walked into the house.
Lin Weiwei was still in good spirits, but she had sprained her ankle, and Bai Si'an wouldn't let her move: "You sit down, I'll go get some water to wash your feet."
"I don't want to wash..." Lin Weiwei mumbled, leaning back in her chair and acting spoiled. "I'm so tired, I just want to sleep..."
"You have to wash." Bai Si'an's tone was calm, but brooked no argument. "You've walked all afternoon and are sweaty, so you have to wash."
Lin Wei let out a wail, but didn't object anymore.
Baisian went to the kitchen to boil water.
Bai Rongbei then began tidying up the courtyard.
He worked quickly, stacking the bowls and plates together and carrying them into the kitchen, sweeping the bones and trash into the dustpan, wiping the tables and chairs clean and arranging them neatly...
Military style, swift and decisive.
By the time Bai Si'an brought out the hot water, the courtyard had been mostly restored to its original cleanliness.
"Brother, do you want to wash first?" Bai Si'an asked.
"You guys go first," Bai Rongbei said, picking up a broom and sweeping the last corner clean.
Lin Weiwei sat on a small stool, and Bai Si'an squatted down in front of her to help her take off her shoes and socks.
Her ankle was a little swollen, but not seriously. Baisian tested the water temperature and gently placed her foot into the basin.
"Is it hot?" he asked.
"Perfect." Lin Weiwei sighed comfortably, wiggling her toes in the water.
Bai Si'an rolled up his sleeves and used his hands to splash water to wash her feet.
He was very focused, gently pressing his thumb on the soles of her feet to relieve her fatigue.
Looking at his lowered profile and focused expression, Lin Weiwei's heart melted.
"Bai Si'an," she whispered his name.
"Um?"
"It's so kind of you."
Bai Si'an paused for a moment, without looking up, but the tips of his ears turned red.
"Don't talk," he said in a muffled voice, and continued washing his feet.
On the other side, Su Wanwan staggered into the house, but instead of going to her own room, she turned into Bai Rongbei and Bai Si'an's room.
She still remembered Dr. Hu's instructions.
I need to get a massage every night.
"Massage...I need a massage..." she murmured to herself, walked to the bedside and sat down, waiting for Bai Rongbei to come in.
But as I sat there, my eyelids grew heavier and heavier.
The alcohol made her feel lightheaded and her thinking became sluggish.
She tried her best to stay awake, but her head kept nodding, like a chick pecking at rice.
After tidying up the yard, Bai Rongbei went to the kitchen to wash the dishes before returning to the house.
He pushed open the door and saw Su Wanwan sitting on the edge of his bed, her body slumped over, her eyes half-closed, clearly exhausted.
"What are you doing here?" He walked over, his voice unconsciously softening.
Hearing the sound, Su Wanwan tried to open her eyes wide, but her gaze was still unfocused: "Massage...it hasn't started yet..."
As she spoke, she reached out to pull Bai Rongbei down, trying to make him lie down.
Looking at her confused expression, Bai Rongbei felt both amused and tender.
"No massage today," he said. "You've had too much to drink, go to sleep."
"No..." Su Wanwan stubbornly shook her head, stood up, but swayed slightly due to dizziness. "Dr. Hu said... I have to massage it every day... without fail..."
She steadied herself and reached out to unbutton Bai Rongbei's shirt: "Come on... lie down..."
Her hands were trembling slightly, and it took her a while to unbutton just one button.
My fingertips inevitably touched his chest, warm and firm.
Bai Rongbei's body stiffened for a moment.
"Su Wanwan," he said, grabbing her hand, "you're drunk."
"I'm not drunk..." Su Wanwan mumbled, pulling her hand away from his and continuing to unbutton her clothes. "I can manage..."
The second one, the third one...
His shirt was open, revealing his muscular chest and abdomen.
Su Wanwan placed her hand on it and began to massage clumsily.
Her mind was unclear, and her technique was chaotic. Instead of pressing his lower back, she pressed randomly on his chest.
"Is it here... or here..." she muttered to herself, tracing lines on his chest muscles with her fingers.
Bai Rongbei's breath hitched.
Those hands were soft and cool, yet felt like they carried fire, igniting tiny flames on his skin.
He grabbed her wrist: "Stop fooling around."
"I'm not making a fuss..." Su Wanwan looked up at him, her eyes watery and her cheeks flushed. "I'm giving you a massage... let go..."
She struggled, but couldn't break free. Instead, she fell forward because of the excessive force.
His lips were firmly pressed onto Bai Rongbei's lips.
Time seemed to stand still.
Bai Rongbei froze on the spot.
The lips felt soft and warm, with a faint aroma of wine.
Su Wanwan was also stunned, her eyes widening as she looked at his face so close to hers.
Two seconds later, as if she finally realized what had happened, she shrank back abruptly, her face instantly turning bright red.
"I...I didn't mean to..." she stammered, frantically trying to back away.
But she forgot that she was still standing by the bed, and when she stepped back, she tripped over the bed leg.
"what!"
She lunged forward again.
