Chapter 150 Venting
Chapter 150 Venting
There was silence for a few seconds on the other end of the phone.
When He Mengyao's voice rang out again, it had lost its previous teasing tone: "Go find whoever you want, don't look for me!"
"Okay," Yu Heng said, "then I'll hang up."
"Wait," He Mengyao called out to him, "Yu Heng, can't you just let me have my way?"
"Haven't I made you give way enough before?" Yu Heng leaned against the windowsill. "When are you going to give way to me?"
"What did you mean by 'you'?" He Mengyao paused for a moment, then her tone hardened. "You meant to bully me in all sorts of ways? You meant to have an affair with your boyfriend?"
"What does this have to do with anything?" Yu Heng frowned and retorted, "Are you out of your mind?"
"How can it be okay?" He Mengyao's voice rose slightly, then fell back down. "Aren't you very smug now? You've been reborn, surrounded by beautiful women, all your past regrets can be made up for, nobody cares if you sleep with your childhood friend, and we're even divorced, so you don't have any psychological burden..."
Yu Heng hung up immediately. He put his phone back in his pocket and turned to walk towards the stairwell.
I shouldn't have made that call.
He walked down the stairs, his footsteps echoing in the empty hallway.
As he approached the corner on the second floor, his phone vibrated. Yu Heng took it out and saw it was He Mengyao.
He stared at the screen for two seconds, then answered the call.
"You hung up before you finished speaking?" He Mengyao's voice came through, sounding a little anxious and breathless.
"You haven't finished," Yu Heng continued, "but I don't really want to hear anymore."
"No! You! Can't you just..." He Mengyao's voice lowered again, "Can't you just coax me like you used to?"
Yu Heng stopped in the lobby on the first floor. People were coming and going in the lobby, and some students were walking by hurriedly carrying books.
"Does coaxing you work?" He walked to the corner, leaned against the wall, and said, "We still argue, and we still got divorced."
"You're talking nonsense!" He Mengyao muttered, her voice a little hoarse. "What did you say to me on the day of the divorce?"
"Tsk," Yu Heng clicked his tongue, "There's no point in saying all this. Let's just go our separate ways from now on!"
This woman.
She's still so angry even after the divorce.
Having an affair with a younger man.
She really had been keeping this in mind.
In his past life, he once drank too much, and Shen Yueling brought him back home. She was at her parents' house at the time.
Shen Yueling took off his clothes and threw them onto the security camera on the bedside table.
The surveillance camera was originally intended to prevent theft, but He Mengyao insisted that she had slept with Shen Yueling that night.
Yu Heng pushed open the teaching building door, and the early winter wind swept in, carrying fallen leaves.
He tugged at the collar of his hoodie and walked towards the dormitory area.
Not interesting.
He has no interest in arguing with her about these old grievances.
-
In the dormitory, He Mengyao lay on her bed, burying her face in the pillow.
The other two girls in the dorm were chatting away about what to eat for dinner.
"Mengyao, are you going to the cafeteria tonight?"
"I'm not going," He Mengyao said in a muffled voice.
"You're not going to eat it again?"
I'm not hungry.
She turned over and stared at the upper bunk.
She seemed quite happy when we called her earlier.
Yu Heng took the initiative to contact her, even though it was about club matters, at least he did contact her.
But as they talked, a surge of anger rose within them.
Why should I be here reminiscing about the past, while he gets to do whatever he wants?
He Mengyao picked up her phone and tapped on Yu Heng's WeChat profile picture.
His WeChat Moments was completely blank; he hadn't posted anything.
She opened the chat history and scrolled up.
After their rebirth, they barely exchanged a few words.
He Mengyao bit her lip.
She actually knew that what she had just said was excessive.
What adultery, what smugness?
She was just so angry.
She was furious that Yu Heng had someone else by his side, and furious that he wouldn't comfort her.
But once words are spoken, they cannot be taken back.
She tossed her phone aside, pulled the blanket over her head, and was annoyed.
---
When Yu Heng pushed open the villa door, it was already past three in the afternoon.
There was no one in the living room. He threw his schoolbag on the sofa and heard noises coming from inside.
"Ah Ling?" he called out towards the stairwell.
"I'm here," Bai Xinran's voice came from the room. "You're back?"
Yu Heng entered Bai Xinran's room. She was sitting in front of her computer, wearing headphones, with the background of a live streaming software open on the screen.
"What are you doing?" Yu Heng walked over.
"I'm looking at the data." Bai Xinran took off her headphones, turned her chair around, and said, "Isn't this a switch to operations?"
"You're such a good girl," Yu Heng said, sitting down next to her and casually placing his hand on her thigh. "Where's Yue Ling?"
"He went to school, said he had something to do," Bai Xinran said, looking at Yu Heng's face. "Are you in a bad mood?"
"So obvious?" Yu Heng raised an eyebrow.
"A little." Bai Xinran reached out and touched his brow with her fingertips. "It's furrowed here."
Yu Heng grabbed her hand and kissed it.
"It's nothing," he said. "I'm just a little tired."
Bai Xinran didn't ask any more questions. She understood Yu Heng; he would say what he wanted to say, and asking him about what he didn't want to say was pointless.
She turned back to the computer and continued looking at the data.
Yu Heng's hand was still on her leg, his fingers stroking the skin on the inside of her thigh.
Bai Xinran's typing was a beat too slow.
"If you're bothered," Bai Xinran said, "then..."
Yu Heng turned to look at her: "What?"
"Well..." Bai Xinran said softly, "take it out on me..."
Yu Heng stared at her for a few seconds, then suddenly laughed: "I'm taking my anger out on you because of someone else, don't you feel wronged?"
"I'm not wronged..." Bai Xinran pursed her lips. "It's what I should do."
"Good girl," Yu Heng patted her head. "Good dog."
"Besides," Bai Xinran continued, "you'll comfort me when I'm wronged."
He stood up, walked behind Bai Xinran, placed his hands on either side of the back of her chair, leaned close to her ear, and said, "Then guess what I want to do right now?"
Bai Xinran's ears felt a little hot, but she didn't flinch: "I don't know."
"You're lying." Yu Heng's voice was close to her ear. "Your heart is beating too fast."
Bai Xinran pursed her lips, not denying it.
Yu Heng's hand slid down from the back of the chair, went around to her front, and pressed on her lower abdomen.
"Are you free this afternoon?" he asked.
"No," Bai Xinran said. "I won't be broadcasting for the next two days. I'll go to Douyin on the first of next month."
"Alright then." Yu Heng's hand began to move upwards. "Then I'll take it out on you."
Bai Xinran tensed up for a moment, then slowly relaxed.
Her hand was still on the mouse, but she didn't move.
"However," she whispered, "Sister Yue Ling... might be back soon."
"Then hurry up!" Yu Heng smiled, and after a long while, said, "Go rinse your mouth."
