Chapter 124 Can You Accept This Kind of Relationship?
Yu Heng only stayed at home for three days before going back to class.
The problem itself wasn't serious, and the recovery was quick, except for some discomfort from walking too fast.
During his leave of absence, Ning Yutong said that she and Shen Yueling wanted to visit him, but he politely declined.
Qin Lu brought her lunch at noon; it wouldn't be good if they bumped into each other.
Moreover, sometimes she not only takes care of him, but also Xiao Yu.
Although the process was quite tortuous, Qin Lu was always reluctant.
Ning Yutong asked several times on WeChat and even made a phone call. When she heard Yu Heng say that they didn't need to come, Shen Yueling coldly interjected: "Don't worry about him, he has someone to take care of him!"
Sitting in the classroom, Yu Heng couldn't help but grin as he thought about this. This girl really gets jealous, but she doesn't seem to get really angry.
After thinking it over, he wondered if she simply enjoyed the feeling of being jealous.
That's getting interesting.
"What are you thinking about?" Hao Junran nudged his arm.
"Nothing?" Yu Heng turned to look at him. "What's wrong?"
"Can you analyze this for me?" Hao Junran hesitated for a moment. "I've been thinking about it for days and still can't figure it out."
"What's wrong?" Yu Heng asked.
"Let's get this straight, you can't laugh at me, and you can't tell anyone else," Hao Junran whispered, "otherwise we won't be friends anymore."
"Alright, go ahead," Yu Heng asked, narrowing his eyes. "What is it?"
"I think Wang Shuo," Hao Junran frowned, continuing with a troubled expression, "seems to like me."
Upon hearing this, Yu Heng couldn't help but grin, thinking to himself, "You just realized that, buddy?"
He turned his head to look at Hao Junran: "What do you mean?"
"It's just...it's just a feeling." Hao Junran scratched his hair. "He used to watch me a lot during basketball practice. He was even happier than me when I scored. Recently, he's been asking me to have dinner together a lot after class."
"What's the big deal?" Yu Heng said. "Isn't that how it is between brothers?"
"And what else?" Hao Junran lowered his voice, "Last week I caught a cold, and he ran to the pharmacy to buy me medicine. He even bought me porridge and delivered it to my dorm. When I said thank you, his face turned bright red."
Yu Heng forced a smile. So you're not stupid after all; you knew something was wrong!
"How do you feel?" Yu Heng asked.
"Me?" Hao Junran was stunned for a moment. "What could I possibly feel? I just feel pretty awkward."
"Nausea?"
"No, not at all," Hao Junran said immediately. "Wang Shuo is a really nice person. I just never thought about it that way."
"Then why did you suddenly think in this direction?" Yu Heng raised an eyebrow.
"I was scrolling through Douyin today and came across a pair of male bloggers. It wasn't until I watched their videos that I realized what was going on," Hao Junran said.
"So what do you plan to do?" Yu Heng asked.
"I don't know," Hao Junran said with a wry smile. "That's why I asked you. Damn, I didn't know if Wang Shuo was gay."
Yu Heng smiled and said, "He didn't say it explicitly, so what can you do? If you're annoyed, just stay away from him. If he contacts you again, just ignore him."
"It can't be that bad, can it? That would make me seem like I'm the one who's being unreasonable. Wang Shuo is actually a really nice guy." Hao Junran clicked her tongue. "Why don't we test him a little?"
"How should we test him?"
"For example..." Hao Junran's eyes darted around, "...invite him out for drinks or something, maybe get some information out of him after he's had a few drinks?"
Yu Heng almost burst out laughing: "Then when you're drunk, it's hard to say who's trying to trick whom."
Don't drink too much or you'll both go straight to your stomachs!
"Then what do you suggest we do?"
Yu Heng thought about it. Outsiders couldn't interfere in this kind of matter, but since Hao Junran had asked, he had to give some practical advice.
"Think carefully about what you think first," Yu Heng said. "If you really can't accept it, then gradually distance yourself and don't give them hope. If you feel... it's not impossible, then it's up to you."
"I fucking have no idea!" Hao Junran exclaimed in frustration. "I've never even had a boyfriend in my entire life!"
"Then let's leave it for now. Time will tell." Yu Heng stood up, looking at him who was still in a daze. "Figure it out yourself. I have things to do this afternoon."
"Where are you going?" Hao Junran asked, looking up at her.
"Let's go to the club activity room," Yu Heng said. "There's an event this weekend."
"What kind of activity?" Hao Junran asked.
"We'll film videos for Zhou Mengqi and the others," Yu Heng said, looking at him. "You can come if you're interested."
"We'll see," Hao Junran said, pursing his lips. He wasn't in the mood right now.
Yu Heng walked to the classroom door and saw Wang Shuo walking over from the other end of the corridor. The two met face to face.
"Yu Heng." Wang Shuo nodded to him, his gaze drifting towards the classroom. "Where's Hao Junran?"
"She's inside." Yu Heng stepped aside.
He didn't leave immediately, but leaned against the door frame and watched Wang Shuo enter the classroom. Hao Junran stiffened noticeably when he saw Wang Shuo coming over.
Hao Junran sat up straight: "What's up?"
"Want to have lunch together?" Wang Shuo asked. "The cafeteria just opened a new stall."
"I..." Hao Junran opened his mouth, "I have an appointment."
"Who is it?" Wang Shuo asked, then realized it wasn't appropriate and added, "It's nothing, you go ahead with your work."
"It's... Yu Heng." Hao Junran turned his head to look at the door.
Yu Heng raised an eyebrow.
Is this kid using him as a shield?
Wang Shuo also looked over, a hint of doubt in his eyes.
"I have something to do," Yu Heng clicked his tongue, "You two go ahead, I'm leaving first!"
Mouse, it's not that I'm not loyal to my brothers, it's just that when it comes to feelings, you have to handle it yourself!
-
Wang Shuo and Hao Junran ate their meal facing each other. Hao Junran thought it over and over and decided to test the waters.
"Today I saw a video on Douyin (TikTok) made by two guys. They were talking about the differences before and after roommates living together. At first, I didn't understand what 'roommates living together' meant, but I realized it after reading the comments." Hao Junran looked at her and asked, "Guess what it was?"
Wang Shuo pursed his lips and gave the obvious answer: "Are they a couple?"
"Yes!" Hao Junran chuckled dryly, "I never thought men could date."
Hearing Hao Junran bring up this topic, he mustered a bit of courage and asked, "Can you accept this kind of relationship?"
Hao Junran was taken aback when he heard this. He didn't expect Wang Shuo to ask him this in return, but he had already confirmed his sexual orientation in his heart.
"I..." Hao Junran frowned, "I don't feel anything, it's alright, right?"
Boys are always afraid to talk about gay men, and people are always prejudiced against minority groups.
He used to be like that, but more often than not, he just followed the crowd. If he didn't conform, he would be seen as special, and being special would make him stand out from the crowd. He would then be labeled as gay and categorized as one of the prejudiced groups.
But to be honest, he doesn't dislike Wang Shuo, and even knowing his intentions, he doesn't feel disgusted.
However, he couldn't give him a definitive answer immediately regarding matters of sexual orientation.
"This fish is really delicious," Wang Shuo said, changing the subject as he noticed Hao Junran's expression. He picked up a piece of fish with his chopsticks and gave it to Hao Junran.
"Try it!"
Since Hao Junran didn't say she wouldn't accept it, there's still hope!
