Book 2: Chapter 52
Book 2: Chapter 52
I've tried my best to resolve issues in a peaceful way.
I've tried to be considerate.
Understanding…
...and wise, but attacking the people I love despite my many attempts to bring peace between us is one thing I will never condone. It's no longer in my hands to deal with Anselm, but it's now in the hands of the victims who had no one to cry to, the victims who tried to scream but had no one to hear them, the victims who tried to run but had nowhere to run to, the victims who were taken away from their families, and the victims who died in his hands.
At this point, it's no longer me punishing him for his evil deeds but the people who had to suffer at his cruel hands. For so long, he has masked his evil in revenge and blamed Alaric for the deeds he does, but he's just a pathetic maniac that enjoys seeing pain on the faces of innocent people while taking their lives.
I tried my very best to reason with him; I really tried my best. I tried my best to make myself believe that he had been hurt when he was younger and that was the reason he turned out this way, but I can't keep deceiving myself anymore. Anselm isn't someone who should be pitied, and he deserves the very worst that can happen to him.
The same smile on his face as he slit Jasmine's throat was the same smile he planted on his face while abducting innocent she-wolves, killing them, and selling them off. It is high time I brought justice to the innocent lives that have had to die at his hands, and it is high time I put an end to this obnoxious threat.
He has been free for so long, but not anymore; his woe is here, and I won't rest until I have him under my feet. No soul will leave this room until Anselm gets what he deserves.
"What the fuck is happening?" He growled. His jaws clenched, and his fangs grew out of his canines as he stood up from the floor.
The force from my voice had caused them all to fall, including his men and himself. The fall had caused him to let go of Jasmine and, and fortunately caused him to stab himself in the waist.
In no time, his white t-shirt had been soaked by his blood as it trickled down his black pants. He clenched onto the side of his waist in disbelief that he had just stabbed himself with whatever might have been in that knife.
I could see his anger flare up, his rage increasing as his hands clenched tighter on the knife, pointing it in my direction while his right hand held onto the stab wound.
"Seize her right now!" He ordered his men. In no time, they all swarmed towards me like infested animals, aiming to get rid of me under Anselm's control.
Just as I was about to put an end to their miserable lives, a voice growled from afar, and a huge beast sprung up, tearing and ripping apart every single one of them.
"Get your hands off my wife!" Alaric roared, the loudest I have ever heard him, and he didn't stop until he ripped apart each and every one of Anselm's men who tried to get to me.
I could feel his aura; it was the strongest I have ever felt from anyone, yet I could also feel the struggle within him. He is trying his best to save me from these monsters, even though his body is still very much paralyzed. His beast sprung out of him with every bit of its strength.
"Why aren't you paralyzed?" Anselm yelled, running towards Alaric with the knife in his hands, but, heaven knows, there's no way I would let him get close to my husband.
Before he could stretch out his arms to stab Alaric, a mighty gush of wind left my body, striking him to the floor. I had no idea how I did it, but every part of my body and that of my wolf was loving every bit of this. I have craved for his demise for a very long time, and his time is finally over.
"No one will ever have to be scared of you anymore because you won't exist!" I yelled, raising the nearest piece of wooden furniture and smashing it on him, piercing his skin with broken chunks of wood.
"Argh!" He groaned in pain. Holding onto every bit of his wound, he tried to pull out the heavy chunks of wood from his body, but his efforts were in vain.
It was amusing to watch him feel pain and groan in pain. Haven't he ever thought about how his victims felt when he sliced their skin away from their faces while they were alive? Did he never stop for a moment to think about how much pain those she-wolves would have felt while he did his deed?
It was funny to see him groaning and feeling pain when, just a moment ago, he was licking his lips as he watched Jasmine's life leave her soul while he sliced her throat.
I am nowhere close to satisfied, and I want to watch him suffer more and die slowly so I can savour every bit of it.
"How are my powers not working on you? What the fuck are you?" He yelled, crawling on his back away from me as I walked closer to him, while my eyes enjoyed the sight of his blood trickling down his face and his white t-shirt turning red.
"I'm someone you shouldn't have messed with," I answered, preparing to strike once again and watch him suffer, but as I was about to hit him with yet another piece of furniture, a hefty body pushed me to the ground.
"Argh!" I cried, clenching my stomach hard.
"Lenora, I'm sorry!" Otto yelled; he was also on the floor battling with one of Anselm's men, who tried to attack me.
"fuck!" I yelled, and the pain in my stomach increased as I couldn't help but scream. My head became faint as my vision turned blurry. I couldn't bear the pain anymore; the contraction was killing me, but I couldn't afford to be on the floor at a time like this.
I need to stand up; I need to get up, but my legs could only do little to nothing. Sweat dribbled all over my body, soaking the green cotton gown that I wore. My eyes met with Anselm's; his lips instantly curled into a smirk, sending shivers down my spine.
I need to get up. I can't afford to stay on the ground.
I need to get up before Anselm.
I need to save myself to save my family and nation.
I need to save myself to fulfil my happily ever after.
It can't end like this; I can't end like this.
"You're only a brat, I was thinking of saving you earlier and making you mine, but not anymore; you need to suffer the same fate as the rest of the she-wolves you saw at my castle that day." Anselm grinned; he was already on his feet. Staggering and walking slowly to where I am with his clothes covered in blood.
"Don't you dare touch her!" Alaric yelled, rushing over to where Anselm was. Anselm's men had bruised and severely injured his beast, but he had managed to kill almost all of them.
"Get lost!" Anselm growled, and by only lifting his fingers, he managed to make Alaric's beast freeze on the spot before tossing him across the room.
"Alaric!" I called his name as I watched his beast detransition into his body the moment he crashed on the wall, leaving him critically injured.
"No one is going to save you anymore," Anselm whispered into my ear. He's already close to me. Too close for comfort.
"Anselm, that's enough, please!" Otto said, calling for his attention as I struggled to get back up on my feet while holding my heavy stomach tight.
"Which master do you serve, Otto?" He asked, growling at Otto as he diverted his attention.
"I serve you, but this is taking things too far; this wasn't what we both planned."
"I don't owe you any explanation, Otto. You serve me; you must obey me!" Anselm growled, commanding Otto.
"Or do you want the same fate as those you're pitying?" Anselm added.
Otto was quiet; he was taking his time to give Anselm an answer. His eyes shifted to mine; in them were pity and regret. I could tell he was trying his best to help me out, he was buying some time for me and risking it all to save me even though he knew Anselm could kill him in a jiffy.
I managed to gather a bit of strength, my legs struggled to move, but in no time I had managed to get myself back on my feet.
"Forgive me," Otto said, heaving a heavy breath as he closed his eyes to embrace whatever might come for him.
"Pathetic!" Anselm spat as he lifted his knife, and without thinking through his decision, he stabbed the knife right into Otto's guts. Otto groaned and fell to his knees, but Anselm didn't remove the knife from his guts.
"Anselm!" Diane screeched, reminding me of her presence in the room, as she hid in a corner, clenching the fabric of her black pleated gown. The moment my gaze met with hers, she swallowed the dried saliva in her throat as her eyes held terror.
"Anselm!" She yelled again, wanting to warn him of me, but her dearest son was deaf to her calls.
"Shut up!" Anselm yelled, warning his mother and ignoring her warnings.
"Enough of your evil deeds, Anselm," I said with my shaky breath. He turned his back to see me standing on my feet, and his eyes widened in awe. He knew his time was up; he knew his evil deeds had finally caught up to him as he stared at me in bewilderment.
He wasn't expecting me to be back on my feet, but this time, I won't waste any more time in bringing justice.
"You're still very weak…" He tried to say, but before the whole words could leave his lips, I silenced him by throwing him across the huge room with just a finger, just the same way he did to Alaric.
He needs to feel every bit of pain he has ever caused the people I loved, and I won't waste any more time before making him atone for his crimes.
One..two…three…four… I lost count. I lost count of the number of times I flung him across the room and from the ceiling to the ground without laying a finger on him.
Please," he begged. A scoff escaped my lips on hearing him beg for mercy. It was amusing that he knew how to beg, but did he ever listen to his victims when they all screamed for mercy?
Hearing him beg only triggered me even more as I inflicted more pain on him.
I wasn't satisfied, and I wanted nothing more than to put an end to him once and for all, but a part of me doesn't want to end him. A part of me believes that I should let him be in exchange for what he went through while he was young. I hated that part of me that seemed to be taking over my judgment and clouding my senses.
I couldn't just let him be without making sure he would never have to be a threat to me or anyone else anymore, so with a snap of a finger, I broke and dislocated every bone in his body.
"Arghhh!" He shrieked, tears seeping down his blood-stained cheeks as he looked straight up to the ceiling. Unable to look straight or ever move any part of his body anymore,
I vowed to have him under my feet, and with my last strength and with every ache that came with moving my legs, I managed to reach him. His eyes were begging for mercy in his unfortunate state.
"May mercy be far from you," I cursed, breathing heavily as I lifted my right leg and viciously stepped on his groin.
"It's finally over, Lenora," I said to myself as I heaved a sigh of relief.
"My happily ever after has come," I said, sighing deeply as my vision immediately went blank.
