Mated To The Devil's Son

Book 2: Chapter 36

Book 2: Chapter 36

LENORA'S POV

My eyes squinted in an attempt to adjust to the bright lights of the room, but on opening my eyes, I realized that I was in a completely different place with multiple wires around me and a tube across the bottom of my nose.

"Why am I in the hospital?" I asked myself in an attempt to regain my memories, but I didn't need to bother searching for them as everything instantly became clear to me.

"Evelyn!" I called, screaming at the top of my lungs. I recall her falling to the ground and her gown becoming soaked in her blood.

"Evelyn!" I yelled again, springing up from the bed. A sharp stinging pain occurred in my arm as I realized I was connected to a drip, but that didn't stop me from getting up to find Evelyn as I forcefully removed the needle from my arm, ignoring the pain that came with it, and rushing out of the room with my feeble and weak knees.

"Evelyn!" I yelled again outside, having no idea where I was headed.

Salty tears piled up in my eyes, making it harder for me to see as I secretly prayed to find Simon or Miriam. I have no idea where Evelyn could be in the huge hospital, but I need to find her. I need to be sure that she's fine, and I need to apologize to her for all the pain that I've caused her.

It's all my fault that this is happening to her; if I hadn't lied to them right from the start, then they wouldn’t have to risk their lives in an attempt to run away with me, and she wouldn't have been shot.

"Evelyn, please forgive me. I'm sorry" I screamed at the top of my lungs, unconcerned about the number of eyes that were fixed on me. I just needed her to reply. She doesn’t have to forgive me; hell, it's fine if she doesn't want to see my face, but I just need to let her know how truly sorry I am.

Something in me couldn’t help but have an ill feeling about the wellbeing of Evelyn, causing more tears to pile up in my eyes before they all exploded and ran down my cheeks, but I didn't give up; I was determined to find her as I walked past different doors, calling her name on the top of my lungs.

"Miss Lenora, please, you need to go back to your room. You're still unwell." A voice said as a masculine figure approached me, accompanied by two females who appeared to be nurses and doctors but I couldn't tell because my eyes were clouded by tears.

"Where's Evelyn?" I asked them, since they're the caregivers, they should know about Evelyn's whereabouts and lead me to her.

"You need to rest," the doctor replied, causing me to lose my temper.

"Fucking tell me where Evelyn is." I yelled, shoving him aside with my arms as he landed on the floor. I don't know where such strength came from, but all that mattered to me was finding Evelyn.

"Lenora," Simon said as he ran towards me, the heel of his shoes tapping on the tiles.

"Simon, Evelyn," I said, unable to form a proper sentence as I couldn't help but cry out loud. There's something wrong with Evelyn, and I can feel it, but I don't want to accept it. Nothing should happen to her.

"Lenora, Let's go back to your room. You need rest," he said, trying to sound strong, but the crack in his voice near the end of his statement let it out as I clenched my fists against my chest. My breathing seized as it felt like I was about to fall to the ground.

My body didn't lie; I could feel my knees getting weaker and my body slowly becoming closer to the tiled floor. But before I could land on the floor, I felt a hefty arm carry me up and lift me onto his body.

I wasn't unconscious, yet I couldn't bring myself to move a muscle in my body as I stared at Simon's face in shock. Is Evelyn really gone?

"You should worry about your health and that of your unborn child for now," he said, as he gently placed me on the bed, covering me with the blanket.

"Besides, I'm sure you'll be excited with what you're about to see." He added, forcing a smile on his face as he placed his hands on my head, but before he could remove his hands the ward door slammed open, my eyes widening in surprise at the figure before me.

Simon didn't hesitate to leave as he walked past the man who was standing by the door, his eyes never leaving mine.

He stood there, panting and trying to catch his breath, and as he fixed his gaze on me, so did I. I couldn't bring myself to look away from the tall, hefty man that was right in front of me. His familiar eyes burned into my soul, but at the same time, they looked like they could tell a thousand stories.

He is still the same man that I am mated to, but seeing the worried look on his face and the multiple eye bags surrounding his eyes, I could tell that he had been restless for a very long time, yet it still felt like I was hallucinating.

"Am I dreaming?" I whispered with an already sore throat.

"Is this really you, Alaric?" I asked, a tear rolling down my cheeks as I looked at him in disbelief. My eyes moved across every inch of his body, but before another tear could escape my eyes, he rushed towards me. With his trembling arms, he brought my body closer to his, wrapping his arms around me and pulling me into a warm hug.

"I have finally found you, my Nora," he said. I could hear the little crack in his voice, followed by the warm liquid running down my back.

It was still hard for me to believe who was right here beside me—how is it possible to be Alaric? Is it real? Am I in his arms once again after all of these pains and tribulations?

"I'm sorry for not finding you sooner; it has been a living hell without you, Lenora." He cried, and with every word that left his lips, he pulled me closer and closer to his body until I could feel his heartbeat racing.

"I promise I never stopped searching for two hundred and ten days, and it feels unreal to have you in my arms again," he added, breathing in and inhaling every scent of mine.

I'd been in denial about who was standing before me, so I couldn't hug him back, but not anymore; I've finally accepted that he's Alaric, that he's the one I've been longing for and searching for, and that I'm home.

In acceptance, I slowly wrapped my arm across his huge frame, clenching tight against the skin on his back as I pulled him even closer to my body.

Inhaling and feeding myself every scent of him that I couldn't afford the luxury of for weeks, this time there's nothing that's going to make me let him go; nothing will stop me from finally living in his arms alongside our child.

"Our baby," I said with a smile, my voice coming out as a whisper as he slowly pulled himself away from my body in fear of hurting the child. I took his hands in mine and placed them on my tummy as his eyes widened and his smile broadened in excitement at the little baby's kick.

"It sure is strong." He chuckled, wiping off some tears from the corner of his eyes.

"Yes," I replied, my smile getting bigger and more genuine. A heavy weight has finally been lifted off my chest.

"I'm glad you're all in one piece, including the child." He said, taking my hands in his and gently caressing them.

"Please take me back home," I begged, meaning every word that left my lips. I've been away from home for a very long time, but now that I have the opportunity to be back home, I don't want to miss it, and I want to be in the Serene Pack once again, feeling the soil on my feet and reconnecting with the people I left behind, including Ariel and my grandma.

"Ariel, how's she?" I asked. I suddenly realized we were both in the car when it crashed, and I've been curious about her wellbeing ever since.

"She's doing okay; she was in a coma for a very long time, but her mate, Brandon, took her to his pack."

"I thought he was a rogue," I said, my brows creasing in confusion.

"Turns out he was a runaway Alpha heir, but he returned," Alaric added. Watching him speak made me wonder if he is truly Alaric. It's overwhelming and hard to believe.

"I missed you," he said, leaning closer to me as I closed my eyes to embrace the familiar warmth of his kiss on my forehead. The moment his lips touched my skin, thousands of butterflies swarmed in my tummy, making me want more than just a simple forehead kiss as I pulled him back by the collar of his shirt, taking his lip in mine.

He was in a state of shock, and I was too. Ever since he sat this close to me, his lips have been calling out to me; hell, his whole body has been calling out to me, and I had to take the chance.

I pushed my body closer to his as I savoured every flavour on his lips. He took some time to realize what was happening, but as soon as he did, he tightly wrapped an arm across my waist, pulling me closer to him as he placed his other hand at the back of my head for support before deepening and intensifying the kiss.

He reached out his tongue to mine as a groan escaped his lips, while my arms sneaked their way across his waist, pulling him closer to me.

I could feel a tingling and burning sensation growing in my body. It felt as if something I had lost was returning. I tried to figure out what it was, but it didn't take long for me to realize it wasn't the kiss but my wolf, Lora. She's back, and this time she has settled in with me. Somehow, my wolf seems to be heavily dependent on Alaric, and that must have explained the great strength I had when I pushed the doctor to the floor.

"Fuck!" He cursed, pulling himself away from the kiss as his hungry eyes remained on my lips.

"What's wrong?" I asked,

"I need to stop before I won't be able to control myself," he softly said, panting as he tried to catch his breath.

"I don't need you to control yourself; I'm yours," I cooed.

"My Nora, I won't be going in for just a kiss," he said, cupping my cheeks in his hands.

"I know," I replied. I could sense my arousal rising, and undoubtedly, he also sensed it. It seemed to have pushed him off the edge. He swiftly flung the blanket on my body across the room before settling himself in between my legs.

"You're just recovering; are you sure you want this?" He asked, and slowly I nodded my head, but the moment he was about to lift my gown, the door opened. It was the doctor.

"Your highness, I don't think this is right," he stuttered, trying hard to look away as he turned his back against us. My eyes met with Alaric's, and for some reason, we both burst out into laughter. I should be embarrassed for being caught by the doctor, but hell, I've held it in way too long.

"I love you," he said, returning the blanket to my body and planting a kiss on my forehead.
