Mated To The Devil's Son

Book 2: Chapter 22

Book 2: Chapter 22

SIMON'S POV

"Simon, help!" A faint sound echoed in my ear, and I recognised it as being that of Lenora, but the moment I stood up from my bed, the sound vanished. It wasn't repeating itself in my head any longer and vanished like I never heard it.

"Strange," I muttered to myself as I returned back to my bed. Laying on it, I brought a pillow to my chest to hold on tight to it as my body seemed to be disturbed, but that wasn't helping.

I wasn't feeling okay and my body wasn't settled. I wanted to check up on Lenora, and perhaps that would put my mind at ease, but at the same time, I couldn't. Holland was in her room, and I couldn't just barge in there. He would take it as something else, and I wasn't in the mood to argue or fight with him. We've done that way too much in the past few days.

With my mind still troubled, I stood up from the bed and slowly walked towards my desk while straining my hearing to be able to hear whatever was going on in Lenora's room that was troubling me. I couldn't hear anything, so I decided to give up as I sat on the wooden chair, staring at the number of files that were on my desk.

Since Holland wouldn't do anything and the king was already in his old age, I've been assigned to handle all of the affairs of the kingdom and report it back to the king, but with our kingdom being isolated, we receive more papers to go through as we barely know what is happening outside our kingdom.

I tried to go through the boring work load and perhaps it'd put my mind at ease and then I would be able to sleep, but as I turned the first page of the file, I heard the voice calling out to me. This time, it was louder than before, but it wasn't coming in through my ear but rather my nerves.

I couldn't hold it in any longer as I decided to check on her and see what was happening. Without wasting any more time, I sprung up and left my room without bothering to lock the door and I reached for hers, but just when I was about to open it, I perceived a foreign smell that was coming from her room and the grunts of a man whose voice wasn't familiar either.

"Who is that?" I asked, with anger evident in my voice as I tried to open the door, but the bastard had locked it from inside and I was unable to open it.

"Who is in there?" I yelled, but this time, I was hitting the door with every ounce of strength in me as I attempted to break the door, but it was hard. I was the one who had used a hard door for her room to prevent strangers from breaking in, yet the monster seemed to be in the room already.

When my body became tired, I had no choice but to turn to my wolf, despite knowing that it wouldn't spare whoever happened to be there the moment it broke the door free.

After hitting the door twice, it broke off its hinges and I was met with the worst thing I could have ever imagined.

I spotted Lenora lying unconscious on the bed with her clothes ripped off her body. The man was on her as he kept on defiling her body with a smirk on his face. He knew I had broken the door, but he didn't stop. I don't know why I wasn't moving and why I wasn't attacking the bastard.

I stood still, with my whole body numb. I was unable to move as I stared at what was happening in awe before my wolf immediately became triggered, and at this point, I wasn't aiming to cause inflictions on him but rather to make him suffer before he dies.

"You bastard!" I growled before pouncing on him and dragging him away from Lenora, who still happened to be unconscious. The dried tears on her face and her cringed brows made my heart sink as I didn't hesitate to punch the bastard with my claws, tearing his skin apart, but he wouldn't stop laughing with a smug smile on his face even though his mouth was filled with his blood.

"You will not live to see another minute," I threatened as I kicked him across the room, but my wolf wasn't satisfied. I wanted him dead, but at the same time, I wanted him to suffer more than once for what he did to Lenora.

"You fool, I'm not scared of death. My mission has been completed. " He laughed. His laughter triggered my wolf once more as I decided to end his life. But as I was about to throw a punch at him, I heard the footsteps of the royal family coming towards this room. The noises must have called their attention, but I couldn't let them see Lenora in this state. Not only would they cancel the wedding, but she would lose her respect in this kingdom and in Edessa.

It's unfortunate, but rather than comforting victims, they would rather isolate themselves from her and call her impure because her purity was taken by a criminal.

In an instant, I forcefully punched the bastard's throat to make him unconscious and also block him from speaking as I went over to her closet and brought out a new night dress that I could cover her with. I don't want anyone to see her this way, and worse, no one must know what has happened to her.

Just as I finished dressing her up and ditching her torn clothes, the royal family entered the room as they all stared in shock.

"Addison!" Skye screamed as she ran up to Lenora, with tears building up in her eyes.

"Is she okay?" the queen asked, I was quiet for some time as words wouldn't leave my mouth. I was still in awe from the shock from the earlier scene. I couldn't seem to look away from Lenora as I stared at her in pity, but I needed to mask my emotions.

If they figure out that something went wrong, then it would be bad for both Lenora and everyone else, as the alliance would also be cancelled, hence our kingdom would go bankrupt.

"Simon," the queen called as I snapped out of my thoughts and changed my stare from Lenora to the queen.

"Lucky, I came on time. She's fine, "I lied.

I had not come on time because I was busy doubting the voices in my head. If I had listened, then nothing would have happened to Lenora and I wouldn't have to lie. If I had just been quicker, then I would have saved Lenora from this burden on her. I happened to have heard her calling out to me, but I doubted, and now I will have to bear this burden for the rest of my life. I hope she forgives me.

"Thank goodness you came on time," the queen sighed in relief as Skye cleaned off the tears in her eyes with the back of her hands as she cupped Lenora's cheeks with her other hand.

"Poor girl, she must have been scared," she said as I lowered my head. I will have to tell Lenora one way or the other, as it would be wrong to keep this from her.

"He's from our rival kingdom," Holland said, as he strolled towards the bastard and picked up what seemed to be a badge with the symbol of our rival's kingdom.

"I'll make them regret their mistake, lock him up." The king ordered as the guards behind them carried the bastard away from the room while some maid servants came in to clean up the mess in the room, and one by one, the royal family left the room, leaving just Skye, Lenora, and me.

"Can she sleep in my room tonight?" She asked, it'll be best if she stays in Skye's room since her door is broken so I agreed and carried her in my arms while Skye led the way to her room.

After walking to the other side of the castle that belonged to the royal family members, we finally reached Skye's room, and I placed Lenora on the bed and gave Skye a bow before reaching for her door, but I was stopped by her small, fragile hands as she held my wrists.

I turned to look at her but she didn't say anything, rather she stared at me and I was confused.

"What's wrong?" I asked but didn't finish my statement before she pressed her body tightly against mine, her small hands wrapped around my waist. I was confused at the sudden act. I didn’t know how to feel or what to say as her heart raced faster against mine.

"Are you okay?" I asked, with concern in my voice.

"Just a minute," she answered, with her body still pressed against mine.

I listened to the rise and fall of her chest and for some time, I let go of my worries as some faded behind me, and what I could think of at this point was the warmth of her body and the calming effect it had on me, but it didn’t last.

"Yeah, I'm sorry," she said with an awkward chuckle before releasing her arms from my waist and taking some steps backwards. Suddenly, my chest was heavy with my thoughts once again as all of my worries returned.

"You should go now," she added, and walked towards the door to open it for me. I wanted to question her about what had just happened, but I decided to let it slide as my body still had not recovered from the shock I experienced from seeing Lenora in that state earlier on.
