Chapter 628 - 599: Perfectly Content
Simon Forrester instructed Gavin Gale to find some childcare specialists and have them come to the Forrester Group for his initial interview, followed by a second interview with Sienna Thornton.Meanwhile, Auntie King reached out to some sisters working as caregivers for other wealthy families to help recommend well-regarded childcare specialists.
Gavin found three people first, all of whom were national senior childcare specialists.
Because Sienna Thornton would return to work in a couple of days, Simon Forrester was quite anxious. Upon hearing that someone was found, he immediately set aside an hour and a half that afternoon for interviews.
The first candidate was a woman from the central region, about forty years old. The second was a local from Brimfield, a woman around thirty. The third was a male childcare specialist from The Northeast.
Each had their own advantages: The forty-year-old had ten years of experience caring for infants aged 0-3; the thirty-year-old had received systematic scientific early childhood education training in Canada; and the male specialist from The Northeast had several years of experience in public hospital pediatric behavioral development care.
Since these candidates had passed the senior childcare specialist certification exam, Simon Forrester figured their theoretical knowledge and practical skills were not an issue. During the interview, he avoided basic questions like how to bathe a baby or prepare formula, opting to test them in other ways.
He intentionally scheduled the interviews for 5 PM, having all three candidates enter his office together. Though each had a half-hour interview slot, the sessions were staggered.
By the time the one-and-a-half-hour interview ended at 6:30, it was the peak of congestion on all major roads in Brimfield. In such conditions, catching a cab or bus was out of the question, and even getting on the subway was tough.
Simon Forrester wanted to see if they would show any sign of impatience in such circumstances. Those who lacked patience were certainly not suitable.
As the interview began, Gavin Gale invited them to sit quietly at the conference table in the chairman’s office.
Initially, Simon Forrester just had them wait, while he focused intently on his files. After half an hour, he began to occasionally ask some irrelevant questions, such as—
"In your previous experience caring for infants, have you encountered any emergency situations? How did you handle them at the time?"
"How do you balance family and work?"
"If an emergency arises at night requiring your presence, can you accommodate that?"
...
All three interviewees replied perfectly, exhibiting great patience.
As the hands of the clock moved closer to six, the widening darkness blanketed Brimfield, with the traffic below appearing like a city’s bloodstream, robust and vibrant.
While Simon Forrester was mostly engrossed in work, he could effortlessly detect the subtle expressions on the three candidates’ faces.
As 6:30 approached, the male specialist began to show signs of impatience and restlessness.
Simon Forrester marked a noticeable but not overly large cross on his resume.
He was quite satisfied with the performance of the other two specialists and instructed Gavin Gale to take them to the Forrester Group’s employee cafeteria for dinner, and later to the Fenmore Villa.
Meanwhile, he went to The Springs Residences to pick up his wife and child.
The baby was asleep in the infant seat while Sienna Thornton was watching over him in the backseat.
As Simon Forrester started the car, he said, "Gavin found two childcare specialists that seem pretty good. You can interview them later, and if they’re not suitable, I’ll tell him to continue the search tomorrow."
Sienna Thornton asked, "What’s the situation with the two of them?"
Simon Forrester then gave a brief summary of the two female childcare specialists’ resumes.
"The thirty-year-old seems promising," Sienna Thornton showed clear interest in the young specialist who had received training in Canada, "I’ll test her English later; if she’s fluent, she can introduce a second language to the child."
Simon Forrester was noncommittal and just said, "Discuss it when you meet them."
The family of three returned to Fenmore Hill.
By then, it was already the end of October, and Fenmore Hill had entirely donned its fiery red attire, with maple leaves falling on the winding mountain roads and some drifting onto the car windows.
Sienna Thornton rolled down the window, picked up a maple leaf to examine, and smiled, "Time flies; another year has passed in the blink of an eye. I was just pregnant with the baby around this time last year."
Simon Forrester has never been one to lament over the passing seasons, but when Sienna mentioned the time they conceived their son last year, his heart softened.
He glanced at his son, who was sleeping in the basket through the rearview mirror, his joy and happiness were palpable.
"This is our fifth year together," he smiled, "Do you think by the tenth year, we’ll have a daughter?"
Sienna Thornton feigned anger, eyes wide, which gave him the impression that his desire for a second child was foolishly optimistic.
But the next second, she laughed, "By then I’d be almost forty. If we don’t have a second child, am I waiting to become an elderly mother?"
Simon Forrester sighed in relief, "Then when our son turns three, shall we have a daughter?"
"Sure."
He hadn’t expected her to agree so readily. He had thought he would have to persuade her for a long time to have a second child, but he was delighted to find that Sienna was already open to the idea.
He was content.
The family of three returned to the villa. Sienna Thornton intended to put the baby to sleep in the small bed, but as soon as she lifted him from the basket, the little guy yawned and woke up. His big, bright eyes darted around, one moment looking at his mom, the next at his dad, suddenly breaking into a sweet smile.
Sienna handed the child to Simon Forrester, "Since he’s awake, you might as well bathe him. I’ll nurse him to sleep afterward."
She was planning to go to the bathroom to prepare the baby’s bathing supplies, but Simon Forrester suggested, "Those two childcare specialists should be arriving soon; we could have them demonstrate their skills here and now."
"That makes sense."
At the same time, Gavin Gale was driving the two childcare specialists up Fenmore Hill.
The older childcare specialist, looking at the fiery red maple leaves scattered across the mountain road, exclaimed, "Is there really such a place in the city? It’s beautiful."
The young female childcare specialist smiled, "If you see it during the day, it’s even more beautiful. The whole mountain is red."
Being a native of Brimfield, she knew exactly what type of people lived on Fenmore Hill, so she was very curious about the family they were about to interview.
The car maneuvered through the winding mountain road and stopped in front of Mansion Three.
From inside the car, they could see the avant-garde design of the three-story villa standing on higher ground, surrounded by flaming red maple trees. Below the villa lay a purely blue outdoor pool and a very tropical-looking gazebo.
The garden was a harmonious blend of green and red, with a well-arranged path of stairs adjacent to a lush, flat football field. Further down was the ground-level garage, housing a black Mercedes, a deep sky gray Lamborghini, and a bright red Maserati.
